Bad news from Rosinski as well…
“Since we have to close our business operations in May 2024 due to new, unfulfillable EU regulations, we are selling our remaining stocks of ground raw tobacco…”
Yes. It’s a great shame; his snuffs are unlike any others.
This is indeed tragic news, the EU simply cares not for the history and culture of its countries.
I made my last Rosinski order in November and gave René my thanks and all the best in future.
It was genuinely quite upsetting.
I’ve just ordered a couple each of his schmalzlers a few other snuffs, and a bag of flour. I had seen sometime back that he would only ship the flour within the EU, and am glad to find out that he will ship to the US. Hopefully it will arrive withing a week and no problems with customs. I did express my sympathy with his situation as I had a personal email from him.
Edit: An recommendations of his other snuffs in case I decide to make another order before the curtain comes down? I think I will be well caught up in terms of the schmalzlers.
His Schmalzler range are all fantastic; Tabcum (not sure of the spelling right now) is also not to be missed.
I mean this sincerely, I haven’t had a bad blend yet - even ones I wasn’t sure suited my tastes have been wonderful, stored away for special occasions.
Berliner Luft was a wonderful discovery and I’m really looking forward to Alter Fritz when the warmer weather comes my way.
I received my order last week and had no problems whatever with the shipping. Was very pleased. I haven’t really had a chance to try them all being busy and not wanting to open them up until such time as I could jar them or something. Definitely nice stuff though.
EU regulation becomes continuously reminiscent of a proposal of feudalism. EU regulation = no crafting without the expressed consent of the Lords.
As far as I know, you can still get Rosinski snuffs, you need to send an email to René…
Looking at all the label stickers and jars still available on the webstore, I had a feeling this might be a thing.
Might be best to not say much on a public forum.
