Well I was wondering of any key information people think they have learned from others on snuffhouse…I would say for me it has been 1.You might get really blocked up and feel u might have to forego snuff, but persist and your nose shall adapt.(menthol rebound I am so glad someone told me about) 2. I always used to get my snuff hankies in such a crumpled mess of snuff. However I read about folding your hankies into quarters and then concertina style and blowing into the individual little pockets…economy is great…I would have never considered it for reason…snuff geniuses… 3. I love people’s reviews of snuffs, it’s made me try many more snuffs than I would have…
Do not bother taking >5 grams per day, because no one would be the only one doing it
Come back to snuffs that you think you didn’t like. Be adventurous. Try new snuffs, even if you don’t think you will looked them
Likef them, not looked them.
So I’ve seen it a lot and think I know why, but why avoid the tap boxes…? Or should I just look it up? Immediate edit. I looked it up. Interesting. I guess I’ll see. I got like seven or so of smaller boxes (not necessarily straight-up tap boxes).
Definitely the “jaw-drop” technique for taking fine snuffs. That is, don’t sniff something like Dholakia, just hold it to your nose and, with lips sealed, drop your jaw slowly like you’re suppressing a yawn, thus creating a light vacuum. Though it’s a lot more fun to do a pile off the back of your hand or thumbnail!
that theres no such thing as one snuff fits all !!!
Big pinches. When I was new, I was inclined to take smaller pinches, when I was unsure how I could handle a snuff. But big pinches are always easier. Always. It’s unexpected, but always true.
That snuff needs to be properly hydrated. It may make me feel a bit silly but that idea never crossed my mind until I stumbled across it here. It has helped me appreciate the local (American Scotch) snuff more than I would have thought possible. And yes, I firmly believe that a scotch snuff needs to be hydrated for proper enjoyment (for me anyway).
that snuffers are a diverse and interesting group that are more intelligent then average. And that Roderick employs elven labor.
Tap boxes are a waste of time and money.
Don’t take every word you read here as gospel truth! It’s all a matter of personal preferences! (Tap boxes work very well if you use the boxcar method!)

Always be willing to learn new things. Try new snuffs, try old snuffs, don’t be afraid to make your own, experiment. Don’t pay attention to those who act like they know more than you do, they are acting. I have learned that no matter what blog you go to, or are a member of, there will be a hierarchy of “experts”, followed by a strata of people having varying levels of knowledge. I like the advice of the experts here for sure.

Yeah that’s very true, I went and made a new shopping cart today and filled it up with snuffs that sounded unappealing, or at least uninteresting. Lots of menthols, some random mcchrystals, G&H almond, I actually had a vague idea of ordering the first snuff in alphabetical order from every UK manufacturer but only used that as a guide or else I’d have nothing but anise lol. I’m sure I’ll find at least one keeper (and if not there’s 1.5kg of white elephant in there too). Definitely love the experts, it’s a ton of fun to just read the post histories of some of those members, lots of incredible stuff in the archive it sucks that the search function is so crappy. Edit: incidentally, this doesn’t warrant its own thread and I can’t find the “questions that don’t deserve their own thread” thread, can I order a variety of snuffs together, including something like Hedges, without the menthol of the Hedges contaminating everything?

No snuffing method in the world is going to change the fact the the snuff will be like desert sand when it comes out the tapbox
Agreed but I actually think they work really well for German snuffs
^ because German snuffs are oil moistened and don’t dry out easily
The last two posters beat me to it, but I couldn’t figure out why SG snuffs were all so bad. After all, all of my German snuffs came in tap-boxes, and they were great. This forum taught me the wisdom in only buying 20-25 gram tins, even if that meant it would take me longer to buy all the ones I wanted to try. Now several of my favorites are SGs. It also taught me that if you love Packard’s Club ( or anything else) say so loud and proud! There used to be forums that didn’t even consider German snuffs to be snuff. Heck, there used to be one that seemed to be entirely made up of men that bought HDT in bulk, and nothing else. If you mentioned anything else you were made to feel like a child that should go away while the grown ups were talking. Funny how this forum still stands and those are all gone…
In no particular order of import- • That despite what I thought I “knew” about snuff- there is lots more to learn • A snuff I didn’t particularly care for the first time I tried it can become a favorite • A snuff I thought I would love forever may fall out of favor though never off my list • Bullets work much better if you empty half +/- out • Never store two particularly strong snuffs with opposing scents together • 99.999% of the time nobody even notices you are taking snuff • Your wife will notice new scents the moment you try it • Snuff reviews are highly subjective and only inform never steer my choices • In due time you will get a dried out snuff • Snuff for me is wonderful
Hard to chose just one, however, I would say that the best thing that I have learned from snuffhouse is to keep and open mind. Also, always re-try snuff even if you hated it the first go-round (tastes change).
Snuffhouse has been wonderful for my business.I Learnt a lot of new things and gained a lot of new customers.I discovered that snuff use and production is not just limited to India.I never imagined that there could be people with such interest and knowledge about snuff. Before I joined we produced only six brands which by now has more than doubled and growing ! thanks to snuffhouse and mister snuff! In fact Our medicated snuff range is entirely based on the advice and information made available on this forum. Snuffhouse has given me the belief that snuff is going to be the next big thing internationally.

Lol…
What’s the issue with tap boxes? lol When I was in Germany for a month (ran out of snus) I went through a tap box of Gletscherprise every 2-3 days. I miss that stuff…
Tapboxes for schmalzers aren’t too bad seeing as they’re moistened with oil, its the Samuel Gawith tapboxes that are bad for drying out the snuff inside before the snuff is even bought by a customer.
I can confirm that Snuffhouse is like University of Snuff, i have learned many thinks. All that combined with warm friendly hospitality makes that forum for sure a great place for exchange opinions, relax and learning details. Really nice place with nice peoples.
The single best lesson I learned from snuffhouse is the BIG PINCH using thumb and MIDDLE finger. That changed everything for me.
