As I’m living in Thailand at the moment I thought I would share my view on the local snuff here. The two I am aware of that contain tobacco are the red and purple bottles which both come in 13ml size. The red one seems to be the most popular (although neither is used that much now in Thailand) and both can be bought in any independent pharmacy (on every street) for 14 Baht each. This works out at $0.39 Euro 0.35 UKP 0.27 so yes, its very cheap.
These are sold as herbal medicine so tobacco is only one of the ingredients, although they both have enough to satisfy my mild nicotine craving. The red ones website http://www.mohmee.co.th/index.php?Page=Group3 lists the ingredients as: tobacco leaves, Borneo Camphor, Dahurian angelica, Selinum, Lovage, red lime and essential oil
I can’t read Thai and have not managed to find any info about the purple.
Both have a similar consistency of fine grind but the purple is a lighter colour and is a bit dryer. The red has a more intense aroma of ripe fruit and nail varnish remover. The purple has more of a sweet cherry scent to me and has a bit more of an energy rush to it. Both are acceptable but I prefer the European variety.
