So, I went against the advice of several people who stated that Taxi Red reeked of cow manure. They weren’t over-exaggerating!!! This snuff really does smell of cow dung, perhaps after the cow ate some toxic waste. It is definitely not a snuff that I could use again. I even left the lid off for a couple days but drying it out made the smell even worse! But anyway, I do like the little plastic tin the snuff came in and especially love the warning. There’s no ‘gently-put’ warning on the lid, it states that the snuff “Causes Cancer.” Guess they are just covering their ass, just in case someone did get cancer from their product. Their defense could be that they outright told the consumer that, that is indeed what would happen. Now I’m stressed out, I used the snuff about 3 times, so that means I am going to get cancer right? Sorry, a little sarcasm there.
All of the SA snuffs say “Causes Cancer” They are just covering their bases, since we all know the truth about snuff. I love Taxi Red, Blue, and Rock. They are grrreeeeaaaatttt! When I start using Taxi, I can’t stop myself and usuall end up with it all over my face. Love it, love it, love it. It’s a bit of safari love.
At one time, even the EU snuffs had such a warning, till the science made them able to change the warning. I like the Taxis as well. They are different, coarse, moist, I chopped it around the tin with a knife and left the lid off for a time. The Rock is different, and more comparable to the Euro types, as it was more fine, and dry.
Yes, it’s funny how many of us love the smell of cow dung!! It might be something genetic, from the days when our ancestors used dried cow dung for cooking fires. I like Taxi and when it’s mixed 50/50 with Magnet Peach I sometimes even feel like eating it. But that’s the wonder about snuff and humans. We are all different and yet the same. I’ve taken 3 BIG pinches of Taxi Red just now and it’s glorious!!! I love the smell of cow dung!!! Wonder why it’s compared with cow dung and not bull shit?!! Anyone here who can tell me the difference?
It doesn’t seem like dung to me, but it has a fresh earthy essence.
You could be right there Pieter. I have heard befotre that the British like their food salty because of all the salted meat that we ate in the days of old when there was no other method of preservation. To this day the average Brit loves his salty bacon - it was more or less a staple when I was kid and not much money about.
I also love Taxi red, for me it doesn t smell like cow dung at all, maybe its tobacco dung ?
If there’s a market for dung-scented snuff, perhaps Toque or Dholakia might consider a new flavor offering: Road Apple !
Cow Pie.
Kitty biscuits.
‘Different strokes for different folks’ is definitely the case here. I just can not get into the Taxi Red! I really want to like it because I’ve heard it packs a huge nic hit! Even after letting it air out, I still find I have to like shove it up my nose, than it really looks like I have dookie all over my face! I’ll keep it around though, I have come to love some snuff that I hated at first and have come to hate some that I loved at first.
Get a small knife, and chop it up around the can, and leave it open on a top shelf somewhere overnight.
definatley keep it. dry it some more, go back in a day or two. It certainly takes getting used to. I think the blue is a bit more pleasant flavor than the red, and it holds its own in the nicotine department. I actually took weeks before I was able to get mine in my nose without the “dookie face” I’m guessing Ntsu is of a similar character? The scent does invoke subtle memories of my dad taking me to zoos, farms and circuses as a kid.
Why does everyone talk about cow dung? Taxi Blue might be cow dung but Red is definitely bull dung. And the Menthol is ox dung.
I want some Hippo dung.

@industro: My Russian Tort could fill up a small Mc tin in one “sitting”!
battle of the turtles loooooooooooool
tom502, elephant dung has go so much pulp left in it that they use it to make paper from. Seriously. So if one can feed them tobacco, their dung can be dried and ground to snuff.
Wow, this thread has gone WAY off topic… lol
