Tapatalk integration?

G’day all This question is more for the mods, but I’m sure folk’ll have an opinion. I’ve been playing with the Tapatalk app, and it seems petty reasonable. Apparently Vanilla supports tapatalk and it’s free to switch it on for a forum. I was wondering how folk would feel about tapatalk support for Snuffhouse - I usually access the forum when I’m out and about, and I thought it might be convenient, but only if it’s not too much trouble. Thoughts? Cheers

I’ve never heard of it. Is it something like facebook and twitter? I looked at our add-ons available and didn’t see it. If it is available, it would strong membership support for us to be convinced to add it. Ultimately the decision would be with the Admin.

I have Tapatalk… I follow several forums and it comes in handy to have them all in one place on my phone or tablet. @Xander: Tapatalk is like a forum hub. It allows all of one’s forums to be readily available in one mobile app. It can notify user (via mobile notifications) of posts to a thread that is followed. Granted the forums dont have the same look as the full big browser version, but its good for on the go.

Well, you’re talking to a guy that has yet to own a cellphone and only has a vague notion of what an “app” is; and thought the internet reached social perfection in 1998 or therabout. So I’ll let democracy be my guide. Any more comments?

I guess there IS a future in the Internet, more than I once figured when I saw the Commadore 64. It just seems the new technology. changes so rapidly, maybe it’s foundation has not had time to cure properly ? Is there anywhere in the world where pay-phones can still be found? I haven’t seen one in years…Does anyone still own a pager? Citizen Band Radio? Zenith TransOceanic Shortwave? And now Atari is backrupt…sON OF a…!!!

I’d love to be able to use Tapatalk for accessing the forum

@Xander So, you’re saying you’re technologically Amish? I remember when ‘social media’ was IRC. There was nothing else in the days before IM and chat rooms with rules. It was the wild, wild west. Oooh! A server split from EFnet! Find it and ride the split! Then all of a sudden, BAM! Chaos ensues! Bots start kickbanning everybody in the room, bot vs. bot fights that are won by who had the best latentcy, and sometimes things would be perfectly timed to where everybody was banned from being an OP. The only way to get their channel back was to make everybody leave the room (haha) or to ride in a split and take it back over with brute force. Man I miss those days. Long before everyone and his damned cat was some sort of hacker. Free Kevin!

@Dogwalla: I think I understood that, even though you’re entire post was in a language that’s foreign to me :stuck_out_tongue: What I’m saying is that if our demographic is changing, so must we,even if “we” don;'t understand the mainstream thinking. Wow. I feel so out of touch. Why can’t you kids use normal home computer based internet? Who do you think you are? It was good enough for us in 2007 and that was only four years ago! WtF? grumble, grumble, technology, grumble, acceleration, grumble; wagon wheels. grumbles… abraxas. ok that’s nice/grumble, grumble… After conducting with multiple experts I have concluded that my forefinger only typing is far more efficient than thumb-only typing… :open_mouth:

@Bart there is a payphone within walking distance from my house at the local gas station/repair shop. The community wants to get rid of it since they say only drug dealers use it. No CB radio here, but I have a Ham radio and can use and work all the citizen bands.

In my case, I’ve mostly kept up with technology for video games and work. The phone and ipad are the leashes they keep me shackled with, the other technology is awesome, and there is no way I could do any part of my job without it. It’s like a good wrench to a plumber. Hopefully this image don’t come out stupid big. iPhone panorama is a pretty sweet option too.

I’ve got nothing against technology. And @dogwalla a part of me is kind of excited by your desk I’ve had a lot of high tech stuff in my past career. My main issue is how does it impact one’s lifestyle, and yeah, that’s a very Amish outlook. Well, they’re my neighbors after all, I guess I’ve always respected some of their philosophy.

According to Vanilla’s IT department, Tapatalk is not yet available for Vanilla hosted sites. I think it is in the works, but if it is a plugin vs. an addon… that might be an uphill battle.

I rememeber when cell phones where for drug dealers.

Hey I had talked to ya’s before @Xander about the Tapatalk forum module, but you had said once the plug-in was available for “Vanilla” to let you knwo and you would apply it, although when I wrote a few weeks ago about their “Beta” version I did not get a reply… I am thinking my PM was lost as I know if you would have seen it it would have been replied to so I am thinking it just got over looked… glad someone brought this up again! I love Tapatalk makes it so you can check and reply and open/close threads with the greatest of ease (you can;t say no to compass locale if they catch you slippin it’s all over pal, when one gets wasted and the others a waste im going to tie my rope, tie my rope , tie my own, Hey, man you talkin’ back to me, Take him out, You gotta keep’em separated) LMFAO ``` ~~~~ Offspring

I rememeber when cell phones where for drug dealers. LOL! The pagers as well! When I was in Tampa for 3-4 months living shortly after my Grandmother died they had pager services you walked in paid $2.75 a month and they gave you a number and no paperwork, ID or nothing and some mofo’s had 5-6 of them biatches! Lol talk about “suspicious”

I’ll never forget when I was younger and my 85- year old grandpa was leaving the house to drive home in a small snowstorm. He took our cordless phone from the house with him and said he’d “call us when he was halfway home to let us know he was o.k.'” Yea… :)]

My grandfather had lost about 95%+ of his vision, and my grandmother was loony as a jaybird, so we frequented their house often to help around the house. One day my uncle called and wanted us to check on them because they weren’t answering their phone and he lived 45 miles away. When we got there they were fine and my grandmother told us the battery had died on the phone so she put it on the charger but couldn’t find it after that. After much searching, I found it sticking out of the center of a large candle. *facepalm*

@Bart: The emoticon seals the deal on that one! :))

Omg…what a great way to wake early on saturday…to all of this hilarious nerd talk! I <3 nerds so no offense. I will however cast my vote for tapatalk and I hope all forums use it someday. It is so convenient and I’d actually participate more in discussions here and elsewhere…I go days, weeks or even months without visiting some forums because I guess I’m too lazy to go through all the work of logging in, etc…(too lazy to wrap my thought up LOL)

Thanks for the comments, one and all. I’m chuckling away.
