I have a tap box that is almost full but the snuff inside it is bone dry… So I guess I have a two fold question. 1. Is there a way to open the tap box other than on the side. (this is one of the black plastic jobs with the side slide.) 2. If not how do I rehydrate without tapping all of the snuff out in little lumps which would probably take forever. Bonus question… Is it even possible to rehydrate in the plastic tap box without doing any of the above? Thanks

stick a wet qtip in it for a day, take it out and shake well, test, repeat if necessary.

I usually take an eye droper with purified Water and drip an estimated amount in, shake well, and check it again tomorrow and if its not as moist as you would like add a a little more and repeat.

Those boxes are easy to open. Make sure you do it over a large piece of paper. Use a butter knife. Put it between slide and bottom, Slight prying motion work your way around; keep label facing up as you open it. As for a Schmalzler I suggest mixing small amounts with fresh Schmalzler.You may want to screen it first to break up the boulders.
