Swedish Match seems to have shares in more companies than I expected. General snus is distributed in SA by a “company in the Swedish Match group”. But, the same company, name withheld to save them embarrassment, also distribute J&H Wilson’s snuff in SA. Now, the funny thing is that “they have never seen SP No 1”. They only know about Medicated No99. The rep asked me whether I’m not confusing WoS with J&H Wilsons. So I mailed him a photo of a large tin of of J&H Wilsons SP No 1 which, as you all know, is identical to the No99 tin. He has never seen it before!!! Now, I’m asking you, how is this possible? And what’s more, he’s not interested to find out more about the SP snuff. “Not available” was all he was prepared to say. I’m not going to leave it at that.
Hmm… very strange. I know that my Rumneys Export Snuff by Swedish Match is made in South Africa.
Sounds like a few poor salespeople.
_ Sounds like a few poor salespeople. _ Which seems to be pretty common with the product, minus a few exceptions.
I don’t understand why the snuff industry seems to not want to sell product.
I wonder why their Top Mill N01 is no longer available in the large tins.
here is some fun from the swedish match webpage. http://www.swedishmatch.com/en/Our-business/Chewing-tobacco/
Makes me want a wad of Red Man.
So, I have to ask. Were Kensington, Tucky, and Rumney’s Illingsworth brands?
It was Dr. Rumney’s when Ilingworth’s was still producing it and it didn’t contain any paraffin either. Don’t know about Kesington’s & Tucky offhand. Except to say that the old Tucky didn’t have really have anything to recommend it & was way overpriced.
