So i tapped out a bit of doppelt-fermentiert and found what looks like a paint chip. Its a good thing that i crumbled up the little clump on the back of my hand first or else it wouldve gone right up the nose. I also found a 13 mm long stem in my tin of toque peppermint. Does anybody else find these kinds of things in their snuff? should I contact the producers?

M

I found what looked like a piece of a burnt match stick in my sun snuff sher. I just picked it out, and kept on snuffing.

E

I noticed sometimes small metal shavings in my f&t tins. It’s due to my fault I believe because I tighten it way too much to keep it fresh.

G

I found what looked like a small hair in a tin one time

T

Small hairs. The usually get stuck in my fingernails before I pinch, so I dunno if its in the snuff or my fingernail!

T

Don’t get me wrong- it hasn’t stopped me once!

B

I had a whopper, too, Roderick. I found this fellow in an EMPTY tin of snuff,( not Toque thank God)

T

That’s a healthy little bugger! Eat 'em! btw- what’s a “whopper?” please save the Burger King and candy jokes lol

A

There are some old threads about this, I think you might also get some oxidised flavouring or salt or some contamination, rarely, from the factory stage.

G

I have heard about the white things in F&T tins before but cant remember what it was

T

probably chipped paint from the white tube. I can almost guarantee that’s what it is. Grab a knife and run it up alongside the tube. I bet the stuff that comes off is comparable to what you found! I had this too. Atleast this explains what MINE was. YMMV.

B

I still wonder what the thing in my Bernards was, since its a tap box and has no paint/metal in or on the tin

A

The FandT cans do this from time to time it seems.

M

My tin of F&T Old Paris has some strange little white particles in it lol. I’m wondering if its bits of paint, or something else…?

T

I think it’s the cap sealant, maybe melted and flaked off some. I had a can like that, I fished out all the pieces I could.

B

Or run a magnet over the giblets to draw them out. Old Paris was the only one I’ve had do that, if it’s any comfort, MM.

N

I had a tin of Santo Domingo that had white crap in it, I don’t think it was paint chips, it may have been cap sealant as tom502 suggested. I tried to pick them out but there was just so much of that white crap in there that I just dumped the tin in the trash.

T

:o

S

A magnet won’t pick up alloy from a F&T tube! I think this is an American thing, about stuff in stuff. I’m almost 70 years old and just snuff the lot. I’m still living, just LOL!

G

Is this a serious and common issue with the F&T? I’ve never bought any but plan on ordering a tin each of the Old Paris and Princess. Now I’m worried I will get unusable snuff.

M

Thanks a lot Tom and Bart! I’ll probably just do that, fish out the pieces, and use a magnet . I was thinking that… I’m sure there wouldn’t be any REAL harm from little bits. But still, i’d try and pick out as much as I could :-P. All of my F&T tins are pretty much alright @GoHawks . Its really only the Old Paris that has that problem. The rest of mine are pretty much free of any particles.

B

I had an old tin of princes that had a mysterious white semi-irradescent smatering of tiny flakes. I wondered what they were (snuffed them as my intuition said it’s cool). Latter I saw the identical flakes on my bookshelf where I had a little spilling of essential oils. I think in some cases it might be that. Either that or they’ve been adding cocaine so that people will get hooked (that jokes for you canadians, Hope you get the Tim Hortons rumor refrence).

M

There is a link between Tim Hortons and Cocaine? Lol . Explain bob! I may be Canadian but I have no clue what you’re speaking of

B

there were rumors around that they added either cocaine or nicotine to get people hooked on their coffee. These rumors started because some people are so ignorant they don’t realize caffine is addictive.

M

Ahh I see. Yeah, just sounds like caffine to me , but people will say crazy things…

B

@ bob Having spent a couple months working at Tim Hortons in Canada I am pretty sure they add something. Those crazy Canadians are more addicted to Tim Hortons than any American I’ve ever seen. I spent 3 years working for the company in the states and it never reached the level of almost fanatical devotion some of our northern neighbors seemed to have.

X

@SnuffHead Magnets don’t work on aluminum (or aluminium) in the US either.

B

Guess you fellers don’t own a rare ‘earth MAGNET’ .Yeah…, that’s what I figured. Attracts everything from aluminum to women.

M

Bart has a REAL chick magnet

T

Its called a Corvette

B

it’s called having a name that starts with a B. Seriously it’s a biological fact. Which is why I can’t be held accountable.

T

I understand. I have a name that CAN start with a B (Robert) and my last name starts with a B. So I have TWO. The chicks don’t leave me the hell alone.

M

I really don’t think the alphabet has anything to do with it , but I’ll take your word for it

B

See what I’am talking about. The hardest part is explaining to your wife that you’re just a man and you aren’t the one that gave you the name.

B

Well, my initials are B.M. which is yet ANOTHER chick magnet(edit: that’s just a magnet for “loose” women)…some folks have all the luck!

M

LOL you are all excellent for laughs . Good show

T

@bart your initials are B. M. which stands for “boy magnet” You’re doomed.

N

You guys are lucky my initials are S.B. and all I seem to get are “super bitches”

T

LOL!

N

Back to the Nicotine in the Timmy’s… Bob. The nicotine rumor for the Timmy’s coffee is slightly true. ( although I have no absolute proof). Nicotine is used as a “organic” insecticide in some coffee bean farms. It is also easier and cheaper to use especially if your farm is near a tobacco farm. I think there was a thread on here years back about creating your own insecticide with stale snuff? It essentially give any insect that comes into contact with the spray, certain death. I’m sure there are “acceptable” residual levels of it on the beans as they are harvested like any other product that requires pesticide. For example, fruit. The most common chemicals used ( in Canada) are sulfur and copper for fungicides. ( Also classified as Organic chemicals) They also have acceptable residual levels for harvest. Yum! Sulfur tomatoes and Copper grapes!!!

M

Essential Vitamins and Nutrients?

B

makes some sense.

A

I found some hair in my snuff. Quite stiff, probably pubes.

B

well allan it’s like the worm in the teqila.

M

Just don’t eat it lol

B

Sniff it and youll get a super buzz! I doubt timmys has any additional ingredients. ITs just the most delicous coffee on the face of the earth, its so addictive because it is loaded with caffeine, sugar and the best coffee around. Really, where else can you get such good coffee for $1.87?

B

I know it’s why I find that rumour so funny. It seems to be spread by people that believe caffine is addictive. That would be almost as funny as someone saying I think they’ve been adding coffee to this cocaine not only does it wake me up but I can’t stop using it.

B

The taste is what gets people coming back. You could either go to starbucks and pay a ton for a dark burnt coffee or you could go to timmys where its probably only 10 mins old and filled with rich cream and sweet sweet sugar for less than $2

P

I find quite a bit of hair in one of my tins but it very well could be my nose hair. Not going to mention the brand of snuff since it may or may not be my own hair and I don’t want any nasty rumors going around!

S

Yeah, I always end up with one or two really small hairs in my snuff box after a day of regular snuffing. Likely to be little bits on my fingers. It tends to happen more frequently when I’ve not long since cut my hair, which makes sense.

B

@spam I have the same issue, I think it may just be fibres of clothing because they are tiny and thin.

D

This got me thinking, I recently bought a tin of Toque’s Berwick Brown. I believe it was just a bad tin, as the snuff was very dry and stale, but it had quite a lot of thicker bits of tobacco mixed in with the snuff, kind of looked like small pieces of fag tobacco. I presume it hadn’t been ground up properly. Shame because I rehydrated and tried some of the properly ground snuff and it was nice, I just didn’t fancy the idea of getting large piece of baccy up my nose!!

T

I use Ntsu black on a regular basis so i figure that it would probably not hurt anything if i sniff up all the hairs(tobacco fiber), paint chips, metal and bug larvae that i find in assorted snuffs. The bug larva comment was a joke by the way. The way i figure it all is none of it has hurt me yet so.

B

in thirty years thendrix65804 will be doing P.S.A.s about not snuffing paint chips.

T

I mean, we get worms and bugs in our ketchup, etc. anyways…

S

@danw1988 Berwick Brown will have a mixture of grinds in it, ranging from coarse to fine. Unless you’ve got some Santo Domingo sized grains in your tin, it’s probably as it should be, just a bit dry.

D

@shikitohno Ah I didn’t know that, however I still feel it was a bad tin. Think wood shavings rather than a coarse grind!
