storing snuff

P

Can I drop all my different tins into a single mason jar   ? Will there be cross contamination if the tins have been opened? I have small baby food jars I could use but I don’t like the plastic gunk on the inside of the jar lid, and I don’t think they always close in an airtight way. Right now I have my opened tins in plastic bags  but I don’t know if that is going to be good enough.     I had some MCC O&G dry out a bit recently after only a month in its original 5g tin that had been opened.

If all your snuff is in the same mason jar, my guess is at least some cross contamination will occur. If you don’t like baby food jars, get more mason jars.

There will be cross contamination. The rubber gunk is the seal, you can see if the seal works by holding a flame under the jar to heat it up and then capping it, if it seals again after it cools it’s gtg.

@pinchegato All snuffs can be prone to drying out a bit, but there’s an easy fix. Get a tupperware box and put the open tin inside at one side of the box. Put in a damp paper towel or some damp tissue at the other side of the box, and put the lid on and leave at room temperature overnight. With finer snuffs like O&G this will rehydrate overnight, and some of the coarser snuffs take a couple or three days. I only use mason type jars for bulk snuffs, everything else I keep in smaller tins, and just freshen the up a little (as I described above) when necessary.

5g tin of O&G a month old. How dare you. 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X 8-X

Best to use your snuff fresh. Air tight glass jars are the best unless your going for long term storage then invest in a vacuum food saving system.

Hell I have a 10g jar of OG that I’ve had for going on two years now. Lol. I really don’t use much snuff
