I’m just keeping them in mason jars is that the best way or ziplock bags? Refrigerate or not to refrigerate?
I usually double zip lock these up. Bernard’s tend to dry out quicker than Poschl. I just cracked open a Poschl Gawith Apricot from 2012 and it is fine but a few of my Bernard’s that are even newer that that are a bit dry. Still snuffable though.
Schmalzler don’t store well for long term best to use them up. Also keep your menthols separate to avoid non menthols from being cross contaminated .I would double ziploc and freeze the bernards for next season.Add a wet paper towel in the outer ziploc if your freezer self defrosts.
Basement Shaman So basically the taste and flavor will stay pretty much ok if kept in ziplocks and or Mason jars the problem comes into play for them drying out correct?
There’s so many Poschl’s I want to try and add to my order with all the Bernard’s that I love it’s just the shipping that kills me and I have to sort thru all my Poschl’s in my cart to think about what I want to keep or take off of cart until next order lol kinda hard for me lol hard to choose what to keep and what to X off my shopping cart.
Also forgot to add: I want to have a shitload of snuffs for variety just worried if you have so many types you don’t use the same one as much. So would the SG snuffs hold up better would you say as well better than the schmalzlers? I love flavored snuffs so much and like a variety of scents/flavors
786 I’ve had SG and Bernard tapboxes dry out, and the flavor changes considerably, sometimes for the worse. I’ve never had a Poschl tapbox dry out on me, but that might be because I finished them before they could.
Next time I place an order with Dave I’ll probably get a largeish amount and implement storage in jars. Fortunately mold isn’t really a big consideration where I live; ymmv especially if you live in a hot and humid climate in which case it might be a good idea to put them in cold storage. Others know infinitely more than I when it comes to storing in different climates.
Ok I just bought one tap box each of the flavors that I wanted from Poschl and Bernard. Those ill keep in dark closet in their own mason jar for storage. And the big bags of Sternecker and Poschl I decant into sterilized baby food jars. Hopefully this will keep them decent. I hope they should be ok or decent so I don’t waste money
I’ve had an Ozona president tap box into draw open for well over a year. No change what so ever that I can detect. Oil based snuff seems fine to chill by itself. Water based (English) snuff seems to need a bit more love and care though I find the SG 25g tins hold well themselves.
Great to hear I usually Snuff 6 times a day at most and usually if it’s less it’s 3 times. I just like having a variety of flavors and or types. It’s such a fun hobby boy I was hooked on first snuff months ago. My first snuffs bought were 5g WoS Irish Toast 22 and 5g WoS Winter Warmer which I love!
I don’t have those brands but for Molens de Kralingse tap boxes I wrap tinfoil tightly around the box and then wrap it with saran wrap. Seems to work ok. Those snuffs are not particularly moist but they do have delicate flavors, well not all of them but at least the Oranje, and it seems to hold up ok.
@Snuffbox: Our tapboxes are history. I hope our new boxes (see our website http://www.snuifmolenswebshop.nl/Webwinkel-Category-524179/Type-Latakia.html ) will be a good replacement for the old ones.

Are those actual snuffboxes, they look like the Bernard plastic snuffboxes
I actually like the Bernard tap boxes good for convienence especially when I am at work or Out on the town. Just wish they sealed better air tight. I’m gonna have some snuff boxes made from coins there’s a man that makes the circular screw on lid snuff containers on ETSY. If we use a round o-ring gasket we can put on base where u screw on the bottom will help keep it sealed & airtight better
