Storage - Real Quick

Hi Everyone  I’ve read through the storage tips on this site, but I think the highly detailed and complicated ones are geared for people who are buying 150 grams of snuff at a time … temperature controlled, in an igloo cooler, etc. I bought this glass jar: https://mrsnuff.com/product\_info.php?cPath=22\_222&products\_id=1532 Would this be sufficient to store 25-50 grams of snuff, or do I really need an airtight seal? I don’t think my snuff will be in this jar for more than a few months at a time. Let me know, thanks guys  troop

Baby food jars work well. just keep them out of direct sunlight. If it is dry snuff it won’t get any dryer ,Moist snuff will dry out if not airtight , and scented snuff will get weaker in scent. Also airtight glass jars eliminates chance of cross contamination.

The description says that it is airtight…

Depending on rate of consumption I would say any storage solution will work well for 20-50 grams as in my case it wouldn’t be around long enough to turn. For those who take longer to use that much, I would say follow the already stated cardinal rules of snuff: keep it dry, out of direct sunlight and in a moderately cool/controlled environment.

I have good luck using the 2oz. Glass jars of pimento for storage of 25g. snuffs. Just clean and sterilize right after opening.

Nice! Thanks guys

For smaller amounts I store my snuff in my nose. =D>

I know this jar says airtight, but it’s simply a standard screw-on lid. So I’m not sure if it really forms an airtight seal … I may be over-thinking this, as I tend to do sometimes :)) https://mrsnuff.com/product\_info.php?cPath=22\_222&products\_id=1532 I’m just trying my best to keep my snuffs fresh, especially my moister snuffs - again, dealing with 25-50 gram storage at a time, will probably be stored for a couple months. And I do plan to get some baby-food-type jars, but I already have 2 of the above. Let me know, thanks guys! troop

@troop111 I don’t see why those wouldn’t work. I use canning jars and they work fine too. Another good one is empty Old Mill tins

http://www.freundcontainer.com/wide-mouth-packer-glass-bottles/p/v4232B07/ I use #4235B03. had snuff in them for years, works great for keeping snuff fresh as the day you open it. I peel the labels off the tins and trim the health warnings off then stick them to the bottles. And it just a screw on lid, the liner under the cap seals the air out. I suggest baby food jars because you can get them free from your breeding friends.

Hehe nice :)) I may be over-thinking the storage issue, I just want them to stay moist. The lid on that container that you get @basement_shaman , that looks like it would hold a better seal than the link I posted up above. Maybe just any jar with a twist-on top will do … what do you say? Also, my second question, how do I use this, lol, it has a button on top, just got it: https://mrsnuff.com/product\_info.php?cPath=22\_222&products\_id=2485 Thanks guys  troop

The button is to release the vacuum I suppose. I have a large quart container it has a pump for vacuum and a button for releasing. Not sure on how those work but I seen them at my B&M fairly cheap here is another choice if you like straight sides http://www.specialtybottle.com/salvejarsbluemi.aspx and yet another inexpensive alternative http://www.freundcontainer.com/plastic-attached-lid-containerspp/p/v2924B01/

Well, with the one that I linked, do I push the top and bottom closed, then push the button to seal it?

Yes, @troop111 you are correct. For me, I just push the button both on closing and opening the top. Seems t work pretty well…

Great thanks
