Storage Issues

OK. I’ve had Postillion for about two weeks and its lost its sweet berry flavor. Just discovered storage and dryness issues regarding schmalzlers. I bought a plastic airtight storage container. Any suggestions?

Sniff quicker?

Glass…plastic can leak aromatic gases. Also consider olfactory fatigue http://www.macalester.edu/academics/psychology/whathap/ubnrp/smell/odor.html.

Cool dark places always help too

Dark glass jars is what I use. Cross contamination of snuff is eminent. For just a tap box a individual zip lock baggie is your quickest solution. One medicated snuff in a cigar box will thant the whole lot.

@ravenhorse I am using Kerr glass jars with black screw tops (wide mouth) that we used to use for water sampling. Lab grade. Nalgene makes some nice plastic ones that are also lab grade. Also have some IDL in an old Heinz gravy jar that has worked well. Like a Gerber baby food jar but larger. Of course the F&T tins are good.

PS… I rinse all used containers with vinegar then water to remove any residule odors.

Mason Jars. Jelly jars are 4oz and fit 25g w/room to spare. They are cheap, effective, and avalible. Its a small investment to keep snuff indeffiently. Also Lacons smash boxes are amazing. I know snuffgear.com carries them. Not all plastic boxes are equal, these are of much superiour quality than others. They are thick, dense plastic and will keep any snuff fresh for a vey long time, even in and out of the pocket day in and day out. Keeping snuff varities seperate is important. I have three large plastic totes- one for medicated snuff, one for heavily scented snuff, one for relativly plain snuff.
