Stokers Chew

I picked up a sample of Stokers Cherry Chew the other day. I was expecting this stuff to be more of a gum type substance. For those that use it, do you use it like dip or do you chew it. Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but I have never tried this in the past, and I was just curious as to how it is. Al SnuffReviews.com

Thanks Bigblue1 that did help a lot. I was pretty sure you were supposed to put in next to your cheek, but I also remember when all the baseball players chewed tobacco so I wasn’t sure if that was something else or not. Thanks again. Al SnuffReviews.com

dajawu, I use Stoker’s chew on a regular basis. For me, all I do is take a small wad out & place between cheek & gum. I just suck on it and enjoy the flavor. When the flavor starts to fade, just chew on it a few times & your ready to go again. Stoker’s does have some of the best tasting flavors of all the chews out there & the flavor lasts a long long time. I have also made snuff out of it. Pretty good stuff. My favorite to use for snuff is the Butternut, it has a nice buttery sweet tone in the nose. The Peach & Apple are my favorite to use as chew.

Why is there such a histry of chewing with US sportsmen? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but UK sportsmen never have.

If you are hunting you certainly want to minimize scents that would alert the game to your prescence. There are far more hunters in america then in england which means that the game is more accustomed to actively avoiding humans if you smoked a cigeratte while hunting the animals would surely be more aware of your presence and hence much harder to find. Also you want to be ready with your gun and not be messing around with a cigaratte. Plus smoking in the woods can be dangerous as you might start a fire. Plus everything bigblue said.

When I think chew and sportsman, baseball instantly comes to mind.

That’a good answer BigBlue. Apart from old miners, pretty much no one uses dip or chew in the UK. As a kid, I was always fascinated with American charcters in films or whatever using chewing tobacco, and I got to like it when in the states and use Redman which I got on line. We don’t, as a rule, have the hunting thing that seems so common with guys in the US, so your post gave me some perspective, yours too Bob. I like cope as well…

I remember when baseball players chewing tobacco was a big issue. Everyone said they are too much of role models for kids so they should do it. So now most of them just chew gum, as it is kind of frowed upon.

Why are ball players rolemodels. I think the issue is more with society then with ball players. I mean no disrespect but it isn’t like being good at hiting balls, catching balls, and running makes for a good person. I mean I think the players should be respected for what they do but making them into role-models is idiotic. I just wish people where more realistic and honest.

Most sports players are big role models in kids lives. I know there are some pretty hardcore kids, that follow baseball big time. There are plenty that could tell you more about the players then their parents.

back in the Babe Ruth days, it was pretty common for really young kids to start chewing because back then just about every single kid in America was a die hard baseball fan, they would spend all their free time playing the game and they wanted to be just like their sport heroes & most of their sports heroes used chewing tobacco. snuffster, here is a short history of chewing tobacco & sports. Short history of smokeless tobacco & ballparks

Thanks TS, very interesting, a whole culture thats a mystery to most Brits

Some of the ball players actually will chew up a wad of gum then use it to wrap their wad of tobacco to keep it together…

Oliver Twist is a product of Denmark but made with American tobacco.

A retailer here sold me some 2 year+ EXPIRED Oliver Twist. I wrote the website and got a personal apology from Mette Nygaard, who either owns or manages the OT company in Denmark, then a local rep. from national Tobacco sent me 1 of each flavor to compensate for my negative experience. Great service and I’ll continue to buy OT’s to supplement snus and snuff. btw: I just got the Stoker catalog and they have some cool old-timey stuff. I think I’m gonna order their bucket of longcut moist snuff aka:dip.
