Stoker's Catalogue Arrived? Suggestions?

Hello, all. Stokers catalogue came in today, and I’m open to suggestions on what I should pick up. The tobacco hands look quite promising as snuff-fodder, and are priced right, and I notice their bulk dry snuffs are pretty amazingly cheap, too. Any experience, though, with their “Our Pride” and “Old Hillside” bulk tobaccos for pipes and such? Seem pretty cheap at $14.45/lb; they are described as free of added flavors and moisture, and so might make good fodder for cob or snuff-mill. Any thoughts?

I have not yet tried any of their pipe tobacco, but their looseleaf chew and moist oral snuff are fantastic. If you use chewing tobacco I highly recommend Tennessee Chew, Fred’s Choice, Moonshine Blend, and Butternut. These are the ones I have tried so far. The Peach and Cherry moist oral snuff are excellent as well. The prices are pretty darn good too.

How long did it take to get your catalog? I requested one around 3 weeks ago and it still hasn’t got here.

Their snuffbox looks decent. Anyone bought one?

That snuffbox is to put your dip can into. Not very sturdy on its own. I’ve bought a lot of Stokers Looseleaf chew, both styles of dry snuff in the buckets, hands & twists. The snuff is great, chew is great. The hands & twists are fun to play around with. Haven’t really purchased anything else. I’ve had a few of their pipe tobaccos over the years but nothing recent. Okay, I got my catalog today. I’m looking it over, but my god, they don’t mess around on quantity. I’m leaning toward a few of the things they let you order smaller samples of. Of course, it’s weird that they limit you on the amount of small packs you can buy. I’ve tried their moist snuff, but have not had any of their chews.

I wish they sold the dry snuff in smaller sizes. For me, bouncing between so many snuffs, even the small bucket is a lifetime supply. I’ve had the plain. Its quite good too. I got their catalog once. I guess because I didn’t order anything, they decided not to send me another one. Maybe in a few months when I let myself buy some snuff again I will get a new catalog and pick up one of each.

I wrote an email letter to Stokers a while back, explaining to them the use and world market of proper nasal snuff, and how it would be great if they would try to enter this, and thus be the 1st US(at least currently) maker of nasal snuff, and offered some flavor suggestions based on what’s popular. I also referred them to the snuffhouse, and some US distributors. It may not have any impact, but I tried. Maybe if a few others do this too, they will know it’s not just one loon that would be interested. Now I know they make a scotch snuff, so they have their own tobacco supply.

You can buy smaller bags of looseleaf chew, snuff & many other tobacco products at the first link. The 2nd link you can buy the bigger bags & the tubs of moist snuff & unflavored bags of tobacco, The last link has bigger bags & snuff Lil Brown Finck Cigar Snuffshop

Just got the new Stoker’s catalog. They have an entire page devoted to “dry” snuff in this issue. All they are showing though is W.E. Garrett, Tube Rose, and the Stoker’s brand. The Stokers brand comes in 2 pound and 4 pound tubs. Anyone try this stuff and know if its any good?

I’ve seen Perique mention he uses it. Sounds as though it’s very high quality. There’s a write-up on it somewhere here.

They list the 2 lb. tub for $38.95 and the 4 lb. tub for $76.90. I’m not sure if that’s a bargain or not but to invest in that much scotch snuff I’d have to really love the stuff.

The stokers plain dry snuff is very good. It compares well with American snuffs.

I have tried their dry snuff, moist snuff, leaf chew, and cigars. It’s all top notch tobacco.

I just recieved my Fall/Winter catalogue today as well. Figure I will go ahead and get the Plain dry snuff and maybe the Butternut chew. Like Leman said, everything I’ve had of theirs so far is excellent quality so I would expect this to be as well. Their Apple looseleaf is probably the best I’ve had–a slight hint of smoke with the natural tobacco/real apple flavor split half and half-

Well, since they sell in bulk, if any of you want to sell/trade some of your snuff and/or chew I might be interested.

Where do I request a Stoker’s catalog? I remember once seeing a site at which one could request the catalog, but I’ll be damned if I can find it now. Even a Google search doesn’t turn it up. http://www.fredstokerandsons.com appears to be dead/nonexistent. Can someone please post a link? Thanks!

You’re right. It seems to be dead.

There are some post cards in the catalog to give to a friend to request a catalog. I can send you one if you whisper your address.

For the home grinders the longleaf tobacco is less than twelve dollars per pound and the Our Pride is less that fifteen.
