Have any of my American snuff counterparts seen that Tom is now carrying Sternecker’s? I positively jumped out of my boots when I saw that. Of course, since I’ve already placed my order, I am able to alert those of you who do not know of it yet. hahaha!
That’s quite a surprise! Good work, Tom!
Being a snuff noob I would like to see some descriptions grind, moisture level, scent etc… I checked Snuff Reviews and found none.
The entries on both snuff review sites give indications of all of those.Top 25 SnuffSnuffreviews.com
@ermtony Being blind in one eye and not being able to see out of the other I must have missed it somehow… Thank you
My pleasure!
I’ve only had the Bernard Brasil Doppelt in this style I really enjoyed it the little 10g box did not last but a few days, I just may have to get some of this probably should start with a 50g container.
They are good schmalzlers.
I"m on it!
THANK YOU saucy_jack!! This is Un-freaking-believable. I was just placing a large order of German snuffs, and thought I would have something to eat before I checked out. I had heard about the Sternecker’s but thought they were unavailable. So I came to this site to search for something else, and just hit this thread. Now I can ADD THEM TO MY CART along with all the Bernard’s and Poschl I was getting. Maybe after 10 years of uninterrupted bad luck, things are looking up for a change! Tom must have added them to the site within the last hour.
I sprang for that Patrick Collins zebra wood too!
I was going to order 4 bags of the Sternecker’s, but then it occured to me that I had never really tried taking a non-mentholated Schmalzer in the recommended quantity, so I dug out a container of Brasil Doppelt Fermentiert that I’d taken a few tiny pinches out of, took two huge pinches, and promply became so congested I couldn’t breathe through my nose. I wonder if the richer, oil based Schmalzers are congestion prone? I also seem to be going through a phase where I like simpler, more pure-tobacco snuffs, the headier the better (like the Kownoer and de Kralingse Latakia). The almost pure tobacco Kardinal and Virginie seem to have a clearing affect for me.
all schmalzlers are oil based_I also seem to be going through a phase where I like simpler, more pure-tobacco snuffs,_sounds like Sternecker is right up your alley, though 4 bags seems extreme.
BTW, I’ve had two of these and just added my reviews to snuffreviews last night. Perhaps my supplier would submit his as well?
I am so happy to have these in stock and am also pleased to see all the positive reviews. It was no easy task getting these in. Kudos to my excellent supplier in Germany. I was told they are the ‘champagne’ of schmaltzers and it seems you connoisseurs would agree. Dave
I was getting worried that my supply of Moeda Rape’ Natural was getting low, and guess what, The Sternecker Fresko is even better. Plain tobacco, very slight sweetness, and has substance. Good stuff.
My shipment arrived. I’m delighted! it is worth every penny.
@saucy_jack: Jack I would be interested in any comments you have about the Sternecker’s you’ve tried. As I said earlier the only schmalzler I’ve tried is the Bernard Brasil Doppelt and I love it. Right now I have the “Echt Fresko” in my cart along with some other Bernard’s.
ditto that, I am curious too. I’ve looked at those 50g and 100g bags and wondered about them, but not enough to buy an amount like that without at least a better idea than I have right now.
@ Nomad: Well guys, hmm a review, aye? Well I ordered all 3 of them - the Fresko, Echt Fresko, and the Straubinger. The Fresko and Echt Fresko are very similar - both of a coarse grind, quite moist and yet dry or dry and yet moist. lol this is a good snuff for people with an inclination to the coarse and plain german tabacco snuffs. a hint of maple syrup and a whole lot of tabbaco. a lot of burn and a terrible throat drip and if you really pack it in you’re ready to go for quite a while. with the straubinger schmalzler i don’t get as much maple and fruit as you do with Bernard’s or Poschl. But it is fluffy (not as fluffy as a Bernar’ds or Poschl), very smooth going in with a slight burn that subsides rather quickly but again a rather terrible throat drip. All in all they are very well done snuffs. I wouldn’t qualify these as a good snuff for beginners though.
