newish to snuff looking to try a schmaltzlers.came across Sternecker and for the price thought I why wouldn’t I start here? so far plain/unscented have been my favorites out of the snuffs I have tried. I keep seeing the word FRUITY in descriptions of schmaltzlers, of these two which is the least fruity? thanks

Hi @chad13 … I’ve been trying some schmalzer samples recently from @TerrapinFlyer and really enjoying them.

The Echt Fresco is a great one.  It seems to be Virginia forward in tobacco scent and, while there does seem to be a light fruit casing, it’s complimentary and not intrusive.  Bernard Gekachelter Virginie is another great one that is tobacco forward and has a nice smokey, leathery scent.  Poschl Brasil and Perlreuter both are a nice dark, fermented scent and not sweet or fruity … more savory.

Bernard Gekachelter Virginie isn’t a true schmalzer it’s a polish style similar but not the same. I wouldn’t say anything but it’s one of my favorites.

I find Echt Fresco to be a bit “spicier” than staubinger. Datey fruit is there but something about it I really Like

@chad13, kinda hard to say. They’re similar but different enough to be distinct. I think Echt Fresco is fruitier just because it seems spicier and a bit brighter. I’ll do some more today and try to explain it better

@chad13, Echt Fresco is a bit more fruit forward than staubinger but it’s all subtle. The fermented tobacco is definitely the star of the show

I have tried both. Agree with jmahes on echt fresco. Staubinger has a nutty flavor to me. Not a super strong scent. Both are good snuffs.
