Sternecker Recommendations

For those who have tried Sternecker, what is their favorite and how does it compare with Bernard’s schmalzlers?

They’re more natural. I think they’re also richer and more complex. Greasier too. The nicotine levels are lower and require large amounts to be used. Completeily diffrent beasts. The Sternecker for me are a dessert snuff in the best way possible. Decadent is the word that describes them best for me. I tend not to use them all day but to savor a few mountains in my nose. Definatily try them I’am sure you’ll like them all to be honest (a gut feeling on that).

A great value A great product, Doesn’t have all the bells and whistles but very yummy, Remove from bag fill snuff box,Jar the rest up,enjoy, share with friends he will make more. It has my approval. Get the big bag of the Poschl Schmalzler A,D,P and SF while your at it. Stick them in some mason jars and tape the bag to the jars as the label; store in dry cool place. Nobody doesn’t like a schmalzler.

Just don’t bother with the sternecker ungeffettered. It’s plain and requires flavoring.

I get contact dermatitis from petroleum products on my skin. The mineral oil used in Schmalzlers seems to fall in line with this sensitivity as my sinuses have a slight reaction from them. In this regard the ungeffettered is wonderful. This is a one of a kind tobacco that would be difficult to source otherwise. If you are into flavoring or mixing your own then it’s quite valuable. Regardless, all of the Sternecker snuffs are very plain compared to other Schmalzlers. Pure tobacco goodness!

I’ve only tried the ungeffettered. It’s very plain, but when sniffed dry, I get a sweet hay scent that later dissolves to a chocolate cake scent. I infused a small amount (about 1/4 cup) with coffee beans and now have a nice dry coffee schmalzler. I also added some clarified butter to another small batch. Quite good, but has to be used quickly.

Yes I agree with the others that they have more natural scents than the Bernards. Woody, grassy or nutty are good descriptors. All three are excellent, however Echt Fresko is my favorite.

I too have dermatitis from petroleum and therefore from Germans schmalzlers. Sternecker products are an exception because are more natural than the others. Expeccially Ungefettet that is 100% natural!

I have to be the lone voice of dissent. The Sterneckers didn’t click with me. The Bernards are pretty much all beyond excellent, and I really like Pöschl Brasil, but the Sterneckers didn’t make me as happy. I liked Echt Fresko best, but I would choose the Pöschl over it for an inexpensive schmalzler.

@cakeanddotle But Sternecker are inexpensive too, indeed, they are more economical than Pöschl. However, the fact indisputable is that Sternekers tobaccos have many fewer additives than Pöschl.
