I’ve got a bag of this, and can’t make my mind up about it. Its quite dry and fluffy by comparison to the Bernard schmalzlers I enjoy, is that normal? I wonder if it’s dried out a bit. It isn’t the Ungerfett. Is it normally much drier than other Schmalzlers?

C

I do not like Sternecker near as much as Bernard or even Pöschl Brasil

C

and yes they are somewhat drier

J

Dry as in wine, not on the sweet side and fluffy as in awesome. I like Sternecker snuffs especially because they are not as heavy as the other shmalzlers.

isn’t the ungerfett ungreased?

Yep, the Ungerfett is ungreased. It gives instructions on how to use your own actual animal lard (instead of oils and whatnot) to make a traditional schmalzler. Apparently it’s rather labor intensive.

Ungefettet!

Gesundheit!

I just received a bag of Echt Fresko myself. Yes, it seems dry but I have never tried a Schmalzer to compare it. Not bone dry, just not moist. It is quite easy to take and not obtrusive. The scent is pure tobacco…like an unlit cigarette. It is to me, an all day, everyday type of snuff. No nonsense. I like it.

Ungefettet!

Whoops, yep. You’re right. Sorry, German isn’t my native language. Or second. In fact I can’t speak or write a word of German. I have a hard enough time with English to cope with something else

I don’t know much more than a couple of words or phrases of German. I just noticed that the OP spelled it wrong but it didn’t irk me until everybody just copied the error. :(|)
