Spanish Jewel...what's the story?

Reading back through the forum, I see some talk of Spanish Jewel and it’s scarcity (not to mention amazing quality). Is this available anywhere whatsoever? Also, is Toque’s Spanish Gem a recreation of it?

It was made in some secret manner by an old snuff master that some of the older forum members were lucky enough to try. I think the maker retired or passed away. It was basically a no-name snuff that was nicknamed Spanish Jewel. I doubt you will be able to try it, but many of us won’t be able to! Spanish Gem is a “tip of the hat” to the jewel, but is different–not really a recreation.

Hehehe @vathek you happily took a large needle to that particular balloon of snuff mystique!! I was curious about it as I’d read dribs and drabs but no definitive tale of it. Thanks for the enlightenment, chaps!

I had some SJ, it was good, not the best snuff ever but definately in my top 10. It had one hell of a kick and was quite sweet. It was just tobacco though no flavours, but I’m glad I had the opportunity to try it. Stefan
