I just calculated that the 2 x 0.5 in. tubes have a volume of about .4 cu.in, whereas the standard Toque 10g tin has a volume of roughly 1.5 cu in. Given that a standard 10g tin of Toque snuff costs about US$ 3, or $1/ 0.5 cu in, I sure hope you all get 12x more enjoyment out of your Spanish Jewel than you would out of any other Toque snuff. Let me know how it compares to Spanish Gem.

@ bigblue1: Hating ? I don’t know why you would use that expression. I didn’t bid on the SJ, even at a lower price, because I have no interest in it. What I would HATE is to find out for myself that it is “the most valuable snuff on Earth”, fall in love with it, and then not be able to get MORE. Kinda like having a go of it with, say, Raquel Welch once, and then having to go home to the wife. No, I’m happy with my Molens Prins Regent and a six pack of Spaten, both of which I can obtain ad infinitum.

YIPPIE!! I received my Spanish Jewel today. It doesn’t smell as much like dung as the little bit I had before. Thats a plus. The Golden Cardinal is really smooth, mellow taste. Alittle foral or soapy tho, but good just the same. Thanks. The mystery gift I got is freaking fantastic. I won’t say what it is at this moment so I don’t spoil the surprize for others. Thanks so much. BTW, on an extremely accurate scale the SJ is exactly 1 1/2 gram. no more, no less. I look forward to trying the SJ tomorrow morning with a clean nose to try and note the different charactoristics. Going to have to preserve as much as possible to use to compare anything I might try to mix to try and duplicate this. I did take 2 pinches and it didn’t seem like the taste was too complex. And I just had the pleasure of snuffing the G. Smith & Son’s Golden Cardinal and I admit its the very first Floral that I like also! @Poo-Diddy, Bro this is the best $12.00 bucks i spent on snuff yet (even it only being a couple of grams)! Im so glad that I got the chance too try Spanish Jewel, Its nothing close to Toque spanish gem or anything else that I tried for that matter! I see whats all the fuss now, Its a Wonderful Marvelous Snuff! I will take about 1/4 of it out and enjoy it friday for my birthday. Then the rest of the vail I will cherish for a couple of years then reunite with it at a later date. (some special date that is) -----------if i can resist snuffing it. I can’t say it enough its a Marvelous Snuff! and its quite sad because I will never be able to get more. I very serious dout-it that anyone will be able to make a clone of it. Its very complexed. I hope that I stand to be corrected because it would be nice to have a drum of it.

Thank you Poo for your generosity! I tried the SJ a little bit last night and a bit more again this morning. To me it is not the best tasting snuff I’ve ever had, but it is possibly the strongest I’ve ever had! I get the stinky cheese with a faint underlying peppermint. Kind of like Pepto-Bismol flavor. The tobacco is DEFINITELY n. rustica. The burn and taste is very similar to some of the rustica I have ground for myself. However, I don’t know why this is so much stronger. It could be where it is grown that makes a difference, or maybe it’s the fermentation process. I can feel the nicotine rushing through my body, down my arms and in my legs! Then later the top of my head started sweating, like when I’ve eaten some really hot salsa. I did do a couple of fairly big pinches about 15 minutes apart. Also, it made my nose run like crazy, but I refused to blow my nose and just sniffed it back. The drip is very bitter and it even burned the back of my throat a little! If someone could even get their hands on some of the raw tobacco this is made from, and even if the flavor wasn’t exactly the same, I would be the first in line to buy a tub! Oh yes, and a thanks to P-Diddy for the other items, too!

I, too, received my package from Poo-Diddy. I have yet to try the spanish jewel as I have not been using snuff all that often lately, and want to use it when my nose gets back to it’s old self. I had a little stint with dip for a month or two, and then they came out with those clove cigars (after they banned the cigarettes, of course)…so my snuff use has been very little. I can’t wait to try it though. Have a nose of Toque original in right now…and a bullet of McChrystals’ on my lap.

Just got mine tonight. Thanks again. I just took my first pinch, and I can see why people love this stuff. This scent is wonderful, and it’s one of only a very few snuffs that gives me any sort of nicotine buzz. Feels like the first time I popped in an extra sterk kind of.

Just received my precious trio. One of my pinches of the SJ did have that Spanish Gem taste to it; wondering if Roderick found this niche in the flavoring process, homed in on it and made it Toque’s own (in quantity), this amateur nose shouldn’t even say anymore. Anyway, What a guy Poo-Diddy is! I can’t quite wrap my head around it, is he a globetrotter, fought of a hundred men with a stick, had an awkward moment once just to know what it feels like, or is it that when he drinks beer… XX I truly mean precious trio though, wow, wow, wow.

The last I heard there was fifteen kilo’s of it in the hills of Spain. A few of us were down for 500g splits. I’m still down for the record. As long as the cost including gratuity and shipping doesn’t exceed $250. For now, Toque Rustica has exceeded my expectations and my interest in Spanish Jewel is increasingly waning.

Well, the package arrived, and I spent a wonderful couple of hours with a snuffer/grinder friend, smelling the Jewel and taking pinches, all the while concentrating on the craft of Mr. LLUIS VINYETS SALABERT. I also want to thank Poo-Diddy for a most wonderful act of kindness and generosity!!! The Cardinale is interesting, different from another 30 year old sample I received. The third snuff sample is wonderful, and I have no idea what it is or where it came from. It is a rapee real, and it is just lovely! Can any body fill me in on it?

@Whalen are you talking about a small metal round tin with a chocolate, mild menthol scent Rape Real is one of the finest Brazilian snuffs man i believe Poo-Diddy received it from me awhile ago

Yea that is the one, although I do not get the mild menthol at all, I do get a chocolate, sweet date complexity that is very rich and quite pleasant. I really like this one. Do you still have a source for it? It is a lovely dessert type of snuff.

I was beginning to despair but mine got here today. I could smell the GC thru the box but haven’t tried it yet. It smells great though. I took a small/medium sized pinch of the Jewel and @*%@!!! My head was spinning ala The Exorcist (minus the split pea soup effect). This snuff is fantastic! It definitely deserves the Holy Grail Of Snuff status its attained. Count me in on any future buys. I think 4 of you got a tube of some scorching hot cinnamon toothpicks, thought some of you would enjoy them whilst you snuffed the others I think got a bag of dhalokia snuff, and finally, Thanks again for all the kind words, I appreciate them but honestly was glad to help out… The past couple of years the people of this site have helped me be able to try many exotic and unavailble snuffs, was just trying to do my part. Poo-Diddy, Thank you very much for my package. The brazilian stuff is wonderful. The Spanish Jewel is definitely some strong stuff! The smell is definitely odd. Can’t quite figure it out. It’s kind of like sweaty gym socks maybe? I couldn’t taste any honey at first, then after blowing my nose there it was! Honey! It definitely does cause my nose to run like a faucet at first. I just took a heavy pinch to each nostril and my head is spinning! I am glad to have gotten the chance to try this. Would I buy it in bulk? Probably not, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy it. Well, if anyone wants some Rapés, there’s always this site I found a while ago. Never ordered from them, but I plan on it in the future.

Yeah its a site from Argentina i think but the snuffs are from Brazil . Guarany is their Brand , they are ok. I think theres a good number of small (really small) snuff manufactures here but i can only find the ones that are made near my town those two that Snuffstore.de are selling are the most widely avaiable (i have seen it in a couple of places outside my state) I guy from work brought me some tins from a Brand that i had never heard of (including a very good Camomile one) about a month ago . Snuff is a old man habit around here made by small companies with no exposure. I am pretty sure that i am the youngest person that buy those small tins (and carries a handkerchief) in the tobacco section of the coffee shop near my work place. (i hope this will change eventually). I tried some dif brands over the years (in fact the majority of them are from my state i think) and Moeda is the best one for me.

The one I have received is actually Rape Moeda Cristal. It’s pale in colour and pretty fine in grind, looking very much like a high dry toast or scotch. It isn’t quite as dry as those though and it has a very different flavour. It seems to be mildly mentholated but has other flavourings that I haven’t identified yet and it has a bit of a burn too. Rather tasty! @ AP - I ought to add this manufacturer to my list. If I am reading the label right, is the company “Fabr. Henriques e Casarin Ltda”? Or would it be Rape Moeda? I’m trying to work out how best to list these snuffs.

@ermtony The actual name of the company is Henriques e Casarin Ltda they make others tobacco products too i think Moeda is their Snuff Brand I am glad you like the Cristal, The other flavour you are looking for is from Imburana seeds they are quite aromatic (people here put those seeds in a Cachaça bottle to give it the aroma and taste of Imburana to the drink) and a little of camphor i think. I received the Rape Imburana and I must say that it is quite nice. Definitely not an all day snuff as it is too sweet, but it makes a nice dessert snuff.

Hey BB I’m afraid that we will probably never see the original SJ again. All we can hope for is for someone to be motivated and intelligent enough to try and duplicate it. There are several people working on it now. We need to support their efforts. If I’m wrong, and I hope I am, I would buy a pound of the original if given the opportunity. Maybe there actually is someone out there that has some stashed away.

I can’t keep up with you bloody mates. Go on then, I won’t be too far behind.

I’m down to a few pinches left of my SJ. I’m going to rename it “Dangerous Spaniard”!! I’ve “ODed” on it a couple of times already. One time I took a couple of medium pinches of SJ and then followed it with 2 large pinches of Taxi Red and then sat down to try and read a book. Well, the type on the pages became harder and harder to read. Then my head started to spin a little. Eventually I had to lie down to let it pass. I woke up about an hour later feeling a bit funny. I was a little nauseous and just a bit off. Another time I took 4 relatively large pinches in succession with about the same results! This is some dangerous snuff if not used in moderation. Unfortunately for me, moderation is not something I practice very well! I have a theory about how this snuff is made. You know how there’s a particular coffee bean that’s eaten buy a rodent and then the beans are gathered from the rodents dung? They’re supposedly more powerful than other coffee beans. Well, what if our Spanish Snuffmaster feeds the tobacco to his sheep/goats/horses or whatever and then…well you get the picture! We’ve all been snuffing dung! It sure smells like it! LOL

I’ve received my SJ this morning together with Golden Cardinal and Rape Moeda. The Moeda is another Christmas Pudding and very nice. Need I say anything about the GC? Pure gold it is. Thank you so much Poo Diddy, you’ve made me so happy.
