Spanish Gem

Well, its been a while since I had some of the delicious snuff in my nose and thought I would remind folks how good it is. Not too much ammonia from this economy bag and it only needed to be aired for 10 minutes or so before decanting and being perfectly useable. I’ve got it in an open snuff box in front of my terminal and its just sitting sweetly, throwing out the occasional waft of luscious but difficult to pin-point flavours. Now I know the experts have spoken in depth about what makes it up but in the absence of a year of me taking it it has become quite a teazer. Its golden to dark brown, medium mill and like all Toque products feels like silk when you handle. At this time I just don’t have the guns to say more than sweet, spicy and with maybe a gentle liqiour like cognac. Ah well, this is why I am a snuffer not a miller but this is one hell of a beautiful snuff. On a recent thread someone was saying that they wanted their first snuff to be redolent of times gone by; with Spansih Gem you can only you are somewhere in the hey dey of snuff and I personally can’t think of a better accolade. Simply perfect - fleur de snuff.

Spanish Gem is a great, tasty snuff made by Roderick. With that said, it is too sweet for my taste. To my nose, I detect honey and wheat. I do keep it around as a treat, per se. I much prefer the unsweetened Quit.

Just received a bullet of this, and also picked up the honey/wheat tastes along with cat pee. On a hot summer day, can’t beat that combination, eh? That aside, kinda’ enjoyed it.

I like Spanish Gem on occasion, but it is to sweet for me too. Quit and Orignial i could live on! I like Honey Bee a lot but I’m finding it’s even too sweet, I tone it down with Toque Whiskey and Honey

I love my Spanish Gem. Have a pound tucked away in a glass jar. Of course, the original Spanish Jewel is kind of sweet too, so you can really do a proper tribute and leave out a vital aspect of it.

Honey Bee is far sweeter than SG in my opinion. SG tastes a bit like Honey Nut Cornflakes to me - I love it.

I think Spanish Gem tastes like vanilla. I ordered another 10g, curious if it will taste different.

Honey, vanilla, and chocolate are all pretty common descriptors with this one. I just happened to be on SG all evening.

I find SG somewhat nauseating, and I yetl have to find a Toque that I like. I don’t like the chocolate either :o(

@Viking, good day to you, brother! Have you been absent for a while?

Hi Peter - yes my health has been rather bad for a period of time. I seems to be going in the right direction now, thank God!

If anybody is interested, I have some SG up for trade. Please go to the trade and offers thread for more info.

I just got a factory fresh tin of Spanish Gem. I took out a few pinches and let the ammonia evaporate. Upon first sniff it was tobacco and vanilla, then vanilla and leather, next chocolate, finally honey. Aside from the illustrious Spanish Jewel I’ve never had a snuff with such complex scents before. It is a fine snuff. Too bad I only have a week and a half to enjoy it. After that I will be living on an ashram for 6 months where tobacco is not allowed. But I will be back afterwards.

I think this is a really good sweet snuff, vanilla is dominant but there are other scents too. Mixes well with American (sweet) scotches, I tried Navy Sweet.

I’m really glad I bought this one. Strong, long-lasting flavor and enough complexity to keep me snuffing and wondering.

I’ve been neglecting this one, I recall it being extremely complex and rather soothing. I shall have to get a nose full again and sooner, rather than later.

It kinda reminds me of a certain cake mix.

At first all I got from this was the vanilla. But with repeated pinches I’m starting to pick up hints of other flavors. Interesting snuff. I’ll probably be reordering this one.

Its my favorite snuff by far, had to get an economy bag because i used the 10g from the sampler so fast. The reason I like it is it has layers of flavor and its hard to pinpoint a single flavor at a time. Kind of a psychedelic scent i guess  I get notes of white chocolate, rooibos, honey, chamomile and hazelnut, and I find it impossible to tire of. Almost all the Toque flavors I’ve had I liked but nothing can come close to the Gem for me. Also the nicotine level is pretty good to me with a nice burn, i can feel it infusing nicotine in my face. Its almost the perfect grind for me as well. Drink some herbal chamomile tea or red tea (rooibos) with this and it really amps the flavor a lot in your nose as well.
