Sorry but uh

I I am just wondering why it’s like 40 dollars to send under 100gs worth of snuff on mrsnuff and snuffstore to canada. Is there something I’m missing. On the royal mail website to send a parcel tracked and signed to canada. it says it’s 9 euros or pounds or whatever. And the cheapest option is 5.

I just placed a 12 dollar order and ended up paying 24. Half of it was shipping.

If you do larger orders, the ratio of snuff to shipping cost will drastically improve. That is why I usually do one to three large orders a year. It is a bummer if you do not want to order a lot and spend a lot.

Shipping costs within Europe are not that high, but could be better at some shops. I’m fine with SS rates, but avoid placing orders at snuff.me.uk or Toque too often. I prefer small orders, up to 100 g per time.

@mr_o I would much rather place large orders to get the ratio down. But if you bring that much tobacco into Canada at a time there’s a higher risk to incur duties. @volunge toque actually hasn’t been too bad for me. A 100g order will run about 6usd to get it to where I live. But thanks for replies guys. Just was really baking my noodle after.

@tobaccoman I usually wait until they have a free or reduced shipping promotion and just order from somewhere else during the meantime.

Shipping is a way better price to pay than the taxes on tobacco in some places. Here in FL it is cheaper to incur shipping than buy locally. Much of my experience with the price differential was with snus as I can not find any snuff locally except for a few scotch snuffs I really do not dig.

don’t forget about the handling part of the payment. Things like hiring a warehouse and staff.

A big part of the charge adding up is a per item fee. Add a 450g tub, shipping for just that is way less.

So you are in Canada. It does sound like they make some things a real hassle some times, some places.

Yeah, I guess they gotta make some money somehow. But yeah I’m from canada.

We have had the PACT act in the US some years ago, and I have heard about the flavor restriction in Alberta. They do not like to leave tobacco people alone, it feels like.

@mr_o yeah even more then alberta, flavours everywhere are nerfed in canada. unless you find a shop that ignores the ban, the only flavours of dip in canada are straight and regular. same with snuss, you can only get burgamont flavoured . And places like 7-11s and c stores only sell non flavoured tobacco and pipe tobacco. the government can make their money off cannabis now, so they will just keep crushing the tobacco people. it seems like.

That sucks! I feel your pain. It is like we tobacco users are the scapegoats, pariahs, I am not sure if I can find the exact words I am looking for, but you get it. I think we need a major push for harm reduction, rather than wide tobacco bans, excessive regulation and excessive taxation. Seems like most everyone these days thinks tobacco is bad and all tobacco products are the same.

There really is a bad vibe put towards tobacco users. Of any type. And the general consensus is “stop it its bad for you” only perpetuated by current agendas. Just like how it was for cannabis. " don’t do it. It’s illegal for a reason" now it’s a free for all. Certain things can be enjoyed. It is true combusting tobacco is kinda crappy for your health. But half of the reason is because of all the chemicals the industry adds. They essentially aren’t even tobacco what’s sold anymore. But people just buy into the dogma, whatever the dogma is for the time.

Sadly that is so true! I think we might need an organization to educate about which kinds of tobacco products just are not so bad, at least relatively. Of course a lot of politicians would not like that at all.

if you want to blame someone for the publics general opinion on tobacco I say blame the big tobacco companies. You know the ones that lied constantly to the public and did everything they could to turn a profit while manipulating their own product while also doing everything they could to hamper competition. Funny side note I  think I just realized why people listen to me now when I say snuff and pipes aren’t the same and as bad for you as cigarettes. I think it might be because I am in my 40’s and in visibly better shape then cigarette smokers of the same age. Oh well at least the tides are turning, the percentage of the population that uses tobacco is going down but the percentage of young people that use tobacco products otherwise then cigarettes is going up.

@bob very well thought out post Bob. big tobacco Sort of shot themselves in the foot, and then the tobacco users suffer as well. But your right and I agree that the usage of non combustible is going up among the young people. @roderick thank you for letting me know. I might end up placing an order of my favorites.
