Never tried snus or nasal (maybe later) but I need to know what website is the best for ordering snus concerning shipping\availability of product etc. (I’m in USA) I have read recommendations for many brands, I currently dip Copenhagen snuff (I like my nicotine) any suggestions for comparability in taste? I do like a moist product. Reading that White brands tend to last longer but take longer for nicotine to kick in (dryer?) Comments welcome…
I would say to always look for shipping deals. It will kill you when getting stuff imported into the states from any online vendor. If you want GOBS of nic, for for Thunder RAW. It’s the only SNUS I’ve ever had that can really make me get a solid nic buzz. I’ve never even noticed the nic from a white portion before. Also, loose SNUS is handy because, like with dip, you can control the mount you get. Portions are rigid, and you get less bang for your buck. RAW is the only portion I buy because I don’t have to use multiples to get anything out of it. For the price though, I’ve been sticking with dip. I LOVE snus, but I can’t justify $5/can plus waiting for it, storing it, and all that when I can hit a gas station and get dip for less than I can get an energy drink. If you stick dip in your upper lip it doesn’t tend to make much spit either, snus drip is just a lot more enjoyable and you can nibble on the tobacco bits that come loose.
Thanks dog. I do upper-deck my Copenhagen, so I’m familiar with that and would prefer loose. I want to get away from the carcinogens associated with American products and try the snus. I do feel ya on the price effect. So really it comes down to who ships free I’m assuming…just wanted to flesh out were everyone shops for there Swedish products and stick with a reputable place. Thanks again!
I use Northerner, they usually have a free shipping sale at least once a month.
los los los. don’t mess with portions if you can handle cope there is no reason to mess with portions. A cope dipper using portion snuff is like motorcycle rider buying training wheels cause he’s new to bicycle riding. It’s insane.
@n9inchnails - free shipping, no taxes, no UPS bill from Northerner at least once a month?? i guess i am not paying attention because i have never seen that. and now that they are shipping out of Sweden only, i don’t see how they could/would do that … but please, keep us posted when it happens so i can take advantage of that. that would be awesome. in general, @TreeHugger74, shipping costs from buysnus, snuscentral, and premiumsnus, run around $35ish … the key is to order a lot to reduce the price per can. there are always pretty good sales at each of those web sites. the three of them also pay your “duties”, that is, UPS won’t be sending you a bill weeks after you receive your snus, telling them you owe them money. the length of time to wait for snus ordering from the three websites i mentioned, 2 - 3 business days … that is it. tops. course, if you order on Friday night, it will be wednesday of the following week until you get your order. PS though, depends on where you live, General Snus and many Jak’s and Thunder products can be found stateside. Check around. nic tolerance … that is an individual preference. thunder will always deliver … but quite frankly, their snus drips so much, is so chemical in taste to me, that i can’t tolerate. Oden’s Extreme delivers a ton of nicotine. some folks think skruf delivers good nicotine … i don’t think so … grov stark is plenty strong. 8 mg regular portions actually will satisfy you … if you adapt … the nicotine from snus tends to build throughout the day, so beware when doing starks, extra starks, etc. i do about one extra strong snus a day, around 15mg of nicotine … the rest of day i can do regular portions just fine. loose snus, if you prefer, can save you some money … but what most folks tend to do is grab really big pinches when they hand bake it, and in the end you can go through loose quicker than portions. so it’s a wash to me … taste is great with loose, but same with portions - white or regular. the only difference between white and regular is white portions do not go through the “wetting” process … so it takes a little longer for them to give their flavor. strong whites, regular whites … you will feel the nic … it just doesn’t hit like a big wad of chew or a cigarette. cheers … snus and snuff are perfect ways to get your nicotine!
@snuffbrant I’m in Canada so no UPS for me, and I get emails from Northerner all the time for free shipping deals in fact I just got one last week, I get free shipping and 5% off until Sept. 1
ah … i see @n9inchnails … makes more sense. we don’t see those deals in US. bummer
http://www.snusline.com/index.php/ ships for free but don’t have all the snus brands available. But it does list how many mg/grams of nicotine so that will help you decide - regular or extra. I had not tried most but I like General, thunder, odens, and ettans. I chew Skoal ,Copenhagen,Kodiak,Grizzly, Redman loose leaf,Levi Garret Plug, Cannon Ball Plug, Days O Work Plug,Cotton boll Twist. And dip some snuffs. I do not endorse any distributor. I consider snus a luxury product ,it is nice to have if you can afford it.
I use loose and portion. Portions are so convenient and keep the monkey on my back happy so when I’m out working or running around or riding my bicycle I generally keep a portion in. I much prefer original portions to white, as the white is more than just dry, it seems a different material and irritates my gums. Original does not. I’ll use los if I’m at home sitting alone or in the bathroom or shower where mudslides won’t cause me any embarrassment. Usually this is only once or twice a day. I do tend to double the size when I use lös, but it is more economical even still. Sorry, I have no advice on who is the best to order from. I have not bought snus online in some time, as General is available to me locally. Snus Direct is a sponsor here though, and has a coupon code for Snuffhouse members.
I use Northerner. Free shipping this week and a 5% discount on top (i’m in Australia). It was the same 2 weeks ago. I havent paid shipping in the last year or two. I almost feel guilty ordering 5 tins of expired snus and have the delivery to the other side of the world for $4.20. They ship my American chew from the states seperately. Great company Northerner.
I have to say buying snus stateside really is starting to suck. I no longer trust Northerner. Ordering from the EU/Swedish based sites requires bulk ordering to make it worth it. So what I do is I have a few local General vendors. I buy from them. Cost lately is about $2 a tin for portions. It works. In a pinch I would use dip. You being a copeenhagen dipper (assuming just plain cope snuff or lc) you will probably want loose snus though, and something straight tobacco flavored. I would suggest starting with Ettan and Grov los varieties and also maybe Probe Whiskey loose. They will be about as close to the copenhagen experience as you can get. But a warning they will be different. There really is nothing like copenhagen in the snus world. Just a fact. The flavor profiles just are not similar. Yes, I have had copenhagen, and all of the los varieties I mentioned, so I am speaking from first hand experience. Well I have had cope LC and XLC, never the snuff. So almost first hand if you are cope snuff user. Ken
Guys…really insightful…thank you for your time! I’ll keep you all posted when I get my hands on some. Just trying to get as much input as possible. I’m not a ‘sweet’ guy. Not big on flavored tobacco. Wintergreen will break up the boredom but after half a can I’m looking for my ‘manly’ stuff. My first lip was Copenhagen snuff (not LC) I guess I’m just set in my ways like that because I always go back to it.
@snuffbrant apparently premiumsnus dot com is down…anyone else have trouble?
@basement_shaman @TreeHugger74 snusline don’t ship to the US, rest of the world yes but not the US.
@TreeHugger74 … I just visited the website. It is up. http://www.premiumsnus.com/
@snuffbrant okay I’m at work firewall may be blocking will check @ home. Thanks!
If you’re not a sweet guy, then snus is for you. The flavors generally don’t compare at all to dip. A few do, namely General Mint and Wintergreen and a few other mint ones, but those were made only recently to compete in the US market with flavored dips. Other than those, none are nearly as sweet as US dip. A couple of brands I miss ordering online are the two Goats: Göteborg Rapé and Götland Snus. Both have an interesting range of mild berry and or floral scents. Most of said berries and flowers used are part of Nordic culture.
lilbrown in the U.S. ships Swedish snus. Not a lot of varieties but way cheaper than buying from Sweden.
Just put an order in with Northerner as Snusline seem to have a very limited selection at present (Does this change?). I’m in the UK, I hope I don’t get any surprise bills or anything.
