Snus 2.0

Sorry the other thread got out of control, I will restrain myself some what on this one. But Snus is an important part of my snuff experience. I use snus for nicotine uptake/maintenance, and snuff to keep the ciggy cravings away. Today happens to be my two year quit anniversary! Not one since. All made possible by snus and snuff. Although I had a strong reason to quit. Two years ago I spent over eight hours with no heartbeat at all while the surgeons worked to repair the damage from a 45 year heavy smoking habit. I have used snus and snuff to stay quit and a lot of healthy eating and exercise to recover. So I actually encourage snus use, it took quite a while to figure out how to snus and maintain my blood pressure correctly. But it can be done. Sorry for the speech.

@Whalen … while I am sorry to hear about the surgery … I am happy that you have overcome and adapted. That is so awesome. I hope to one day proclaim my two year quit date. I do the same as you - snus to maintain and snuff to fight off the nic-cravings. While not totally quit, hope to one day. Inspiring, thanks!

Just keep the politics out, that rule has always been here since Alex’s wise administration; its not personal but non-negotiable . Whalen, a big slap on the back for your anniversary; that’s some achievement. I guess most of us can’t imagine what you went through, its wonderful that you came through.

@snuffster - Thanks! You would not believe how happy I am to be able to celebrate two years, There were some dark days. I only hope everyone avoids my mistakes.

Seriously great job on still being alive and more importantly taking some control of your health. Lots of people can’t do that.

I quit in 79, have been dipping, snusing, and recently snuffing. The craving never realy leaves you, but vitamin n is there. Whalen keep on keeping on. edm

@Whalen Congrats Sir!

@Whalen good work, keep it on!!! respect, truthly!

@Whalen - congratulations! I’ll be coming up to my two years in September, and it is all due to snuff and snus entirely.

@mustangii … how to fight that craving … i am certainly a slave to it, depending on the day? Amazing that you have been quit so long. Congrats. I suppose I just need to fully commit …

That’s awesome Whalen… I use both as well. Well you know that already lol I’m sure ya see me on snuson. What I do is as soon as I put in a pris or portion I take a pinch at the same time. Call me crazy I don’t know anyone who does it like me.

Congratulations @Whalen! I myself have been cig-free for two months now, and is was lot easier than expected with snus and snuff. Cravings only last a couple of seconds at this time and a good pinch of Taxi Red takes care of them instantly. By the way, how do you maintain your BP when snussing, mine always raises to 140/100 mm Hg? I know that i need to lose a couple (40 :slight_smile: ) of pounds and cut back on the Extra Stark Los which keep my vitamin N levels constant (though don’t really use that much, 3-4 times per day a pea-sized amount of General ES Los). Any other suggestions?

@tikov - Just have to ease back on total nic intake, no all day Sterks. I unfortunately have found that only hard work at the gym helps long term, nothings easy. Exercise is my medicine.

Snus was a Godsend when I had a recent chest and upper tract infection and couldn’t snuff. I seem to have lost the taste now Im better, but keeping a couple of Onyx in the freezer for future nasal illness use.

@Whalen, well done my friend. Just remember: “You’re a puff away from a packet a day”. Keep your hands clean!!

I actually just got a roll of General for me, and a pound of Peter Stokkebye PS 701 Virginia for my wife, she MYO cigarettes and that Virginia is tempting, seven distinct Virginia tobaccos in the blend! It is a little sweet but tasty and was my favorite. I just inhaled from the bag and handed over to my wife, it will be further blended into a five pound batch. I have some of the best smoking tobacco right behind me here, but not tempted. My lungs would freak out, and it would kill me quick. I found a can of Claq and had one in your honor Pieter!

Is PS 701 (virginia long cut right?) for cigarettes mostly, I’ve smoked probably 1oz of it in my pipe, it’s ok pretty good for the price, really kind of basic almost flavorless at least compared to irish flake, Royal yacht, or even Orlik golden slices.

It is a monotone, understated, but adds a sweetness to a blend containing burley. But when flash toasted it forms an immediate toasted flavor. I could see it being bland in a pipe, but a great base as a pipe blender.
