Am I the only one whose snuff usage decisions tend to be based on whether I am cold or hot. If I’m feeling really hot, my go-to snuff is a strong menthol like Hedges L260 to cool me off. (Really any menthol for me I’ll go to to try to cool me off when I’m feeling hot). The menthol sends a cool blast to your nose that just seems to cool me off. If I’m feeling really cold, my go-to snuff is a good SP like Wilson’s of Sharrow Tom Buck or J&H Wilson SP No.1. I guess the scent of bergamot reminds of a nice hot cup of Earl Grey tea and just seems to warm me up. Even though it only affects your nose (and theoretically only effect should be that the nicotine as a stimulant should warm you up somewhat), I find using these snuffs really do help to either cool me off or warm me up. Does anyone else have any go-to types of snuff for when you’re feeling cold or hot, maybe some recommendations for you own personal go-to snuffs for cooling down or warming up, or I am just crazy in thinking the kind of snuff I use should be dependent upon the temperature and the weather?

I will reach for my mentholated snuff- which at present is Gletscher Prise on those warmer moments and more so when inside and the air is dry. I find that it helps with a cooling effect, if only in the nose it still has impact. Cooler and I find myself craving what I presently have on hand that seems to have a warming effect: Gawith Apricot or the Café blend (coffee) . So at least counting me you are not alone in selecting snuffs based on environment. I do believe that for me the ambient temperature and weather is a driver behind what I reach for.

For me it feels natural to select my snuff according to season, which includes all these factors such as climate, surrounding colors and natural fragrances (such as the woody nutty character of autumn vs. the dark heavy indoors cozy ambiance of winter) and mood and all these things… for summer and spring it feels more natural for me to go for citrus and or floral… It’s all about complimenting the environment for me. For instance, I wake up with the pine scented Fichtennadel by Bernard, and even though there aren’t pine trees inside my home, I still wake up to the wintery pine view outside my window. So it puts me more in touch with it and compliments the atmosphere. These long dark northern winter nights go very well with a fire and Viking Dark, for hours and hours I dont need nothing else. The pit of the christmas season was riddled with all the christmas spices for me. Now Im just sniffing to the silent echo of the dark winter. Loving it. Thats my main angle. Viking Dark wouldnt seem right to my mind in hot summer, it’s too heavy, indoorsy and cloggy… maybe Viking Menthol or Spearmint would go. I’d definitely go with lighter more citrussy and perky aromas. I think Toque Extra SP would be awesome during the summer. My active work hours of any season is always riddled with menthol anyway. Its only the evenings that alternate… and for sure I wont be using pine snuff during summer mornings. Probably will just use the same menthol I use during work hours then. Sorry if this is slightly off topic and long… PS: Love your nickname by the way, quite a wondrous mistress that Sally D is…

I went a clay pigeon shoot Sunday and it was rather wet and cold here in uk, I opted for the Fichtenadel from Masters Bernard, just felt right in the open on a cold morning. When I went into the local pub for a few drinks and some roast beef I topped it off with a Bernard Brasil Doppelt Fermentiert, it felt so warming, almost Xmas holiday.( last of my flask so must ‘re order)’‘’‘’‘’‘’
