Snuffs that don't smell like what they are named. (Toque Vanilla)

Dholakia Ganga smells of roses, not…

That’s the river in India, not mary jane.

I’ve heard that Taxi does not fit in this catagory at all. And in fact smells precisely like some taxis.

bob, have you tried Taxi? If not, give it a go. It is pure tobacco and it smells like pure tobacco.

@ tom502: I know - just an attempt at a joke. Still, it doesn’t smell like the Ganges either, by all accounts.

I think the Toque snuffs are pretty accurate in terms of aroma, one thing though; I got a definite smell of wintergreen when I first tried Spanish Gem - not sure if that is in there!

toffee- I thought you knew, and were joking. And I’m glad it doesn’t smell like the Ganges. Well, the clean top mountain part would be nice. If I went to India, I’d bath in it though.

I don’t think I’d bathe in the Ganges, except maybe far upstream. I hear its one of the most polluted rivers in the world. Serious entries to this category: Conwood Peach and Conwood Tube Rose. No peach scent, no rose scent. Both seem to be standard American Sweet Scotches to me. Not that they’re bad mind you.

is tube rose floral at all???

Nope. It has some “other” scent to it. It’s not overly sweet, but not really smokey either.

Conwood Peach is one of my favourites, mild, not to sweet and with a decent nick kick. Some of the Americans have got a nasty “bite” which gives the impression of being strong whilst the kick is but average.

I wondered because a tube rose is in fact not a rose but another flower. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuberose

I also heard something about the Tobacco flower being called a Tube Rose

I too have heard of tuberoses. But I taste no floral in Tube Rose snuff. Let me taste now. Nope. Nothing. To me its almost identical to Tops Sweet. Slight molasses flavor. If there is any floral tone to it, I can’t taste it.

Tube Rose smells like cardboard to me.

Most likely smells like cardboard because they seem to sit on some shelves forever. I have seen more than a few cans in grocery stores with quite a bit of dust on them. Tube Rose back in the 80’s seemed to have a much stronger scent to me than they do these days, not a floral scent though just a bit more bite to it.

Dr. Johnson’s doesn’t smell like the original did either. Given his reputation for poor personal hygiene, that’s a good thing. The giraffe probably smells better.

Temptation Minty Vanilla. I guess it has Vanilla, but I just can’t find the mint. I had to “fix” it, with 4 parts Minty Vanilla to 1 part McChrysral’s Supermint. Now I can taste the mint.
