Snuffs that don't smell like what they are named. (Toque Vanilla)

Just like the title says, I jut got a 25g tin of Toque Vanilla, which I didn’t think I would especially like. However, I smelled it, and unbelieving, let my wife smell it . Chocolate Mint. We both think so in a “blind” smell-test. Have any of you had a snuff that does not smell like the name indicates it should? I gotta say, I really like Toque Vanilla. Especially since it tastes like Chocolate Mint, my flavorite.

Toque Bourbon smells like a bacon cheeseburger to me. Still a spectacular snuff, just not bourbon. But then again others say it’s spot on bourbon, it’s all up to the nose I guess.

Toque Vanilla tastes like vanilla. Maybe you got a mislabled tin? Or it was contaminated by a mint or menthol? It has a similar flavor to the toffee.

Xander, if I did, I’d like to get a couple more mislabeled tins. I haven’t had the toffee but I have one on order right now. To me, with the tin I have, the Vanilla tastes more like chocolate than the Toque Chocolate I have, and there’s definitely some mint in there, although it has NO menthol/cooling in it at all. Just excellence. I love it. I’ll order another tin with my next order from somewhere else just to make sure, but I love it.

Yeah but if it shipped with a menthol some of that odor may have carried over if all the seals were not perfect. My menthols are not allowed in my snuff drawer, even if they promise to stay closed! I can’t explain what you have. All I can say is that my vanilla was very vanilla-y. Almost like a cake I want to eat! I snuffed some after I read your post to be sure. Spanish Gem is almost a similar vein too. I think it might be its own category though.

Well, all I know is it shipped with Toque Cherry, Molens Macuba, and a roll of general Sterk snus, none of which contain menthol or cooling agents. And, I’d be able to compare to Spanish Gem if YOU guys hadn’t cleared everyone out. Roderick, get on it and refresh everyone’s stock. I want to know what it is everyone is raving about. But not til next week, as I have made two online snuff purchases this week. (I kinda feel like I haven’t earned the right to know about Spanish Gem. I still want to know, though.)

Well hell, I just now found out that Toque Vanilla mixes VERY well with F&T Bordeaux. I can’t even describe it. Just try it.

Well, I got hosed the first time I ordered Spanish Gem too. Try ordering direct from Toque. Was that order with Northerner? They ran out of things on me too.

I try to order snuff from Mr Snuff or nicotinerush. However, if I am ordering snus as well, I get it from northerner. if I am only ordering snus, it’s buysnus.com or getsnus.com This time, I can’t find Spanish Gem anywhere. I guess I could get a bulk bag from Toque with free shipping, but my wife would likely kill me. That would be my third tobacco order this week. I’ll wait a couple days. In the meantime, you all could explain to me why Spanish Gem is so incredible. EDIT: For those of you wondering, with northerner, the problem is that if you order something that is out of stock, and something that’s in stock or expected soon, they will ship what’s in and not ship what’s out of stock until you place another order (in my case weeks late) and then ship the backstock with the new order. I’m still waiting on a BUNCH of snuff frrom Northerner. SNUS is always in stock, anything snuff (especially poschl) is always out of stock.

My pattern is smilar in buying also. I guessed it when you said snus and snuff on one order. I guess that’s why my HDT is not here. Did I pay for it already though? My Dholakia Ganga was in stock and they forgot it. I wrote them, and they said they’d send it. No I can’t explain Spanish Gem. Its just good. Its sweet, that’s the only thing I can say. I have no idea what flavor it is, it defies my comprehension. Maybe if I spend a day, just snuffing it, I might be able to say. It has some similarity to Vanilla, but I’m reluctant to say that, as I think that diminshes it in some way. Its not bound by such rules.

I’d guess yes, you have paid for it. I am still waiting on some snuff from two months ago that wasn’t in stock, and they won’t ship it out by itself. I can’t say I blame them as it would cost twice as much to ship alone as I paid for it.

They should email you and let you pick something else, or have a section that you can list back-ups if what you want isn’t in stock.

I’m sure they would if I asked, but I figure if I forget about it long enough, with my next order I’ll get a surprise, and I like surprises.

Vanilla smells like vanilla!!! No chocolate or mint in there. @zonesix, if you want to, you can whisper me your e-mail address and I will forward you some of Rodericks explanations of how different snuffs are made. I found it very interesting. What do you say, Xander?? @ Roderick…I did not forward the whole message!!!

Sounds like it will be an interesting read! Thanks.

zonesix, message was sent, hope you will enjoy learning more about snuff as much as I do.

Read and replied. Thank you! I’d love to have a tour of a snuffmill someday.

Zonesix. You are going to love Toque Toffee. I have like 600g of it around…

well, i have yet to find a Toque I don’t like. I’ve got 7 flavors down. How many left to go? I will definitely try them all. Hell, I’d probably try the Roadkill if they made it. EDIT: Just curious, how long does it take you to kill a 600g bag?

Bigblue: I did email. One problem was F&T HDT being out of stock, the second problem was Ganga being overlooked in my order. They replied and were friendly and left me with the impression they will sort it out. If they want my business again they will. Pieter: go right ahead. That was some good information! YES! Toffee is like vanilla, but sweeter and more flavorful. I would chose that over vanilla given the choice. zonesix: I think there are 31 flavors in all, but to get Snus Ice you will have to go to snuffstore.uk. Its basically just the menthol and peppermint combined though. Also grab up the xmas pudding as I think its limited edtition, but it will probably be made once a season. I think all the Toques were at least good, many great, and some the best of their class. I have about 10 that will be permenant members of my collection.
