The 2 in particular that cause the most congestion and rebound effect for me are McChrystals’s O&G and Hedges L260. What is it that’s in these that cause this almost instant closing of my nostrils? It seems like an allergic reaction of sorts. Hedges isnt as bad. I can take small pinches of it on occassion. I can’t even take the smallest of pinches of O&G with 100% clogging and thick white mucus for at least an hour. It’s not just the menthol. I can do other strong menthols with out any problems. It is sad really, I keep going back to it every few weeks hoping my nose will adjust. I do really enjoy the scent. Anyone one else have a particular snuff that they simply just cannot use?
No,I’m ok with all my collection so far.dont get any problems.have you tried doing smaller pinches?

From above
There must be something in it your body rejects big time.oh well there’s plenty more snuffs you can get on with.
menthol menthol menthol
Gekachelter Virginie clogs me up the worst, I believe. It’s a great snuff but I don’t get on with mineral oil.
Anything with menthol shuts my nose.
Scotch Black. Kinda sucks cause i really enjoy it.
Sounds like a classic menthol intolerance! My problems with those two snuffs (menthol) are beyond profound. It will mess me up for a week at least. They are great snuffs that i would love to be able to tolerate.
Menthol shuts my nose too, but in long time - I mean, after few menthol snuff taking I got my nose clogged at the end of the day. The one that immediately congest my nose is Andechs. I can’t even snort it. I had such problem - no idea why - with Echt Fresko, but I have this problem no more and I can snuff Echt without any problems.
It is strange with me. Not all menthols have this effect. There has to be more to it than just menthol. Maybe its camphor that does it to me… Maybe its eucalyptus…a menthol that comes to mind that is surprisingly strong, but I can take mounds of all day, is Viking Menthol. Fubar medic is another one thats good to go. All the idians and africans ive had as well.
depends on the time of year, temperature, air moisture, nose condition, basically a lot of variables as to wether a snuff will negatively affect me.
For me it’s the menthols that do it, especially in the spring and early summer. In the winter I seem to be able to handle some menthols (O&G) better, but mostly I just stay clear of them.
For me Poschels tend to do it. It seems like there is a point of tolerance. Lite menthols don’t clog me up at all, heavily mentholated ones sometimes shut off my nose in a moment.
Though I’ve found that toasts will counteract it for me. If I put a pile in my nose it will open back up. Interestingly if I am already terribly clogged up like with a cold or something like that strong menthol will open me up and keep me open.
Any mentholated snuff causes the same for me too. Although I like em I have to stay away from em.
try dragun menthol or sparrow blue. Both are lite on the menthol and it really works like salt does in food. It enlivens the tobacco scent.
additionally in refrence to the thread title. I have never had any type of congestion create snuff in any way.
@bob is that better?
@wicsnuffer Oh now it makes sense.
