Snuffing on Mythbusters!

Last night on Mythbusters, Adam Savage took a pinch to induce a sneeze. Of course, not being a snuffer he positively snorted the stuff and his head blew up, but the resultant sneeze was caught on high-speed camera, hehehe. Bonus points to anybody who can identify the snuff! As fans of the show are aware, they always relabel products as “Mythbuster Brand.” The lid looks WoS, the snuff looks too coarse to be American, but the tin is cardboard? Anyway. Follow the link and click on the last video (Sneezing for Science). Enjoy! http://dsc.discovery.com/videos/mythbusters-flu-fiction/ (Sorry, you’ll have to cut-and-paste the link; I can’t get the ‘enter as HTML’ radio button to work right now…)

Sneezing For Science

Pretty impossible to discern what snuff he used. The tin is not one that is used today, probably just something they had in the shop. It’s highly probable that they really just ground up a cigar or some other tobacco product.

Probably real snuff, but tranferred to a generic container as to not show brand names. I haven’t watched it yet though.

Bruton, probably.

Not likely. The snuff used was dark, moist and coarse.

I don’t know if this is a respected show in the US but those two give me the heebs.

Somewhat respected some people laugh at it some people treat it like gospel. I actualy think it’s a neat show. Alot of times they have really proven something correct or incorrect sometimes their science isn’t perfectly sharp. I’d say they hit more then miss. As far as giving you the heebie GeeBees they are hollywood special effects guys so you have consider that they aren’t that creepy for people that work in the creepiest industry.

Oh and after watching it no wonder you get the heebies. I mean you did just watch one of them suck in a sneeze. Watch one where they blow stuff up they are much easier to watch doing stuff like that.

Mythbusters are awesome. They do some pretty zaney stuff sometimes.

I watch em all the time, don’t get me wrong…they still frighten me though. Do you guys get Top Gear? What about the space shuttle launch for some awesome private rocketing foolery? Also that great (and very lucky) high speed crash that the Hamster survived?

I love the Mythbusters! They are wrong sometimes though. They “busted” the myth about high-speed cd-rom drives exploding, and I know it can happen because it happened to me!

I’m betting the “snuff” was Copenhagen. It was even more coarse than Taxi, Cope is the only brand I’m aware of that still comes in a cardboard can. Not counting snus. Plus current Cope cans even say “snuff” on them. A nose full of Cope would surely make one sneeze.

I just watched it and paused it to examine. I’m pretty sure it was Copenhagen too. The label was peeled off to reveal the cardboard, and their own sticker covering the name on the tin lid. The whole affair was mildly entertaining, especially when one of them said “Why would anyone do this recreationally?” lol

Sheez, a noseful of Cope would set me off too…I do like the show but agree sometimes they don’t fully explore a topic, possibly for sake of brevity to fit a time slot. And yes, I get Top Gear and effin’ LOVE that show…my wife compares me to James “Captain Slow” May all the time…

upon viewing the clip I am of the opinion that the snuff they used was Copenhagen snuff… 1. the round box appeared to be made of cardboard. 2 it was dark. 3. the dark snuff was a rough ground. 4. his reaction to the snuff. So all this leads be to one conclusion “Copenhagen”!!!

Can’t watch that as I am on my phone at the moment so I’ll watch it when I get home but I’ve seen the programme a few times and they do some rather amazing things. It does make for good watching.

I’ve always wondered if Cope snuff wouldn’t make a decent American version of Ntsu? Certainly doesn’t fall under the realm of intended use, but for our nic-fiending fans it could work in a pinch. Pity; the local smokeshop had a whole roll of the stuff that was old and offered for a discount, but I passed on it. Dip is one of those things I might try if offered (and Mrs. James S. isn’t looking) but I can’t say I’d want to buy a whole roll of old Cope…

you can or so it’s been stated here a few times. I’ve snuffed a few snuses before which works not great not horrible just kind of works.

This was on last night, and I was now going to post what others have already done so. Yeah, it must be Copenhagen snuff, as the can was fiberboard, and the same size as a Copen can, but with the label peeled off. Hmm, I guess they don’t realize Copen is an oral snuff. They’d done better to get a can of W.E. Garrett.
