Snuffhouse interviewed by Wired.com

A

Yesterday evening I was interviewed via phone by an editor of Wired.com! We chatted a bit about snuff, that it is coming up at hip locations in San Francisco and whether I see a trend coming up or not. He is writing on an article about snuff and used Snuffhouse for some research. The article should be online in about a week. I will let you know when it is public. Well, I guess I have to say thank you for all you guys and girls for the success here and am a little proud of our nice niche forum!

M

congrats Alex!

P

Alex, you are the guy who should receive the thanks!! This forum has changed the snuffing lives of hundreds of us to the good. Less than a year ago I knew almost nothing about snuff and now I’m a veteran!! I’ve even made some snuff myself, thanks to you and the forum. You are a great guy!!! Kind regards Pieter

S

Congratulations. “The Comeback” or something right? but they relegalized the Absinthe a couple or so years ago and some guys are like, “the green stuff right?”

L

Well that’s excellent news. Congrats Alex!!

A

nice!

S

Well done and thanks for the site!

R

Great news Alex, finally snuffhouse getting some media attention!

S

I hope snuff doesn’t get too hip, trendy and popular, otherwise it will end up being taxed heavily and/or banned! Whilst it’s under the radar we should be left in peace. Governments don’t like to see people enjoying themselves unless they can have a healthy slice of the revenue. It’s all about balance: enough interest in snuff to keep numerous small snuff makers in business providing a good variety of products, but not so much that the big brand fag companies muscle into the market, with the resulting political outcry and vindictiveness of some campaign groups. Perhaps I’m being a little cynical. It wouldn’t be the first time. This is an excellent forum Alex, and long may it continue!

S

That’s great Alex, and thanks for this forum.

T

Thats pretty cool Alex, look forward to seeing the aricle. Congrats.

S

Congratulations Alex!! You’re sure to be quite busy approving new memberships now once the story hits, wired.com gets huge circulation!! Ditto for our proud supporter shops on the left, I’m sure this will translate into increased sales!! @sandy130674 - Although I think a renassiance for snuff is well underway (which I believe is a good thing for user awareness, not so good once the government takes notice), I couldn’t have said it better, let’s hope we have at least a few more years before it gets ugly (like it just did for RYO tobacco)!!

N

congratulations Alex!

B

again awesome. And I say let snuff get as popular as it needs too.

J

WOOO HOOOO!!! were all famous lol, anyway Congrats Alex this site is awesome!!!

T

I must add my congratulations, Alex. I’m so grateful for this forum - it’s put me in touch with fellow snuffers all over the world and broadened my knowledge considerably. I look forward to reading the interview. Will it be online?

S

That’s great news. Wired is a cool mag, I’m sure their depiction will only increase interest in snuff.

A

I am checking Wired.com regularly and it should be up this or next week. I guess in one of their blog sections, but I don’t really know yet. I even don’t know if Snuffhouse will be mentioned. We will see and I will let you know. Thanks all!

Z

Awesome Alex! Great read!

S

If you like to visit the Dutch snuff windmills see http://www.wired.com/underwire/2009/06/gallery\\_snuff/7/ Jaap Bes.

T

That’s the best part of the Wired article, and very nice and interesting on it’s own.

A

Beautiful pictures Jaap. Awesome.

C

Jaap, It is wonderful to see you in action at the mill. Your snuffs have a whole new aura to them! I enjoy your products daily, and look forward to every pinch.

Z

Wow. Now I have seen where my favorite snuff is made, Molens Macuba.

T

Did that gallery article state that the Mill made snuff for Samuel Gawith snuffs?

S

Yes, but that is a wrong quote. The mills do not produce for Samuel Gawith Jaap Bes.

T

I didn’t think so. Thanks, Jaap

B

Great read! Wow those windmills are beautiful.

S

Here’s another view of Jaap’s mills…

C

Very nice aerial view!

S

Here’s Another View Of Jaap’s Windmills… Sorry the file wont work for me today!

M

.

M

Weird, I can’t post that picture either.

S

Mark, I posted two pictures earlier, no problems. It must be the site. Not just us lol!

M

I think it’s the picture… I tried two others, no problem! It was bugging me, I had to re-do the image.

S

That’s the one, I gave up as it was getting late.

S

Yes, that are the mills, thanks for sharing the picture. The lower one is De Ster rebuild in 1968 after it burnt down in 1962. The upper one is De Lelie, a lot older, it was originally build in 1776 and left of De Lelie is De Karottenfabriek the place were most of the work on snuff was done untill around 1950. It was restaurated as a multifunctional centre in the 1980ies. In between the mills is the old residence (build in 1876) of the original owners, the family of Hioolen, who lived there untill 1920, now a restaurant. Jaap Bes.

S

Hartelijk dank voor de infomatie Jaap.
