I wanted to get everyones input on the FAQ, keep in mind that it is just in its infancy stage at the moment. What sort of things do you want to see?

Is it normal to get snuff in your throat when you sniff? Can you rehydrate a dried out snuff? What are things to look for when buying a snuff box? those are three I commonly see…

What’s a good snuff for a beginner? What kind of snuffs are there? Does snuff-taking cause cancer?

“Where can I get snuff?” (Seems to be less common than it used to, but it’s worth making it explicit that the best place is online, at one of our supporter shops.)

I think something like ‘how to become a snuff user’ with the main newbie questions. I agree ‘where can I get snuff’ is best dealt with by pointing people online, a list of bricks and mortar shops would be a massive task and never accurate. Possibly though, you could have something like ‘classic tobacconists’? There are so few that it might be feasible, certainly for the UK.

How do you use snuff? What is a bullet? What is an SP, Toast, White Indian, Schmalzler ect,

Some of those things are already there.

Nose bleed question, swallowing, blowing, how much, how often, public snuffing…

Maybe a guide on how to quit smoking with snuff? I see harm reduction and all that but not a thread on step by step and tips on how to go about it

I think there’s a picture of a medical drawing on the stuffing post where someone has colored in a spot that says this is where the snuff is supposed to go. I think that would have helped a ton when I first started

That was my doing. I think it is a great way to show people what is meant by “front of the nose.”

This isn’t really about the FAQ but rather the forum in general. The threads have grown pretty large by now. Has anyone considered categorizing the threads so that users could drill down more quickly to areas of interst? How committed are we to Vanilla? If we have an option, there might be better open source applications available. The last forum upgrade seems to be a lemon. Maybe we can rollback to the older version? FAQ is a great idea. I’d like to see a Links feature on the main screen. A lot of redundant questions could be avoided if users were aware of some of the review sites out there. Just tossing some ideas out there for whatever its worth.

I would like to see a search bar that actually works! If you want to implement a google search bar for the site just send me a PM and I will send you all the links you need to do it. I just added one to my forum and it works well.

Can I make my own snuff? How?

I don’t know what happened but after the so called “upgrade” the search function went from awesome to utterly useless. I want the old search back!

An FAQ on how to do a Google search of the forum? Sorry, couldn’t resist the cheap shot. I’m sure you guys are doing your best with what you’ve got.

The search facility is useless, just how the site was built. I’ve asked the IT people to re-model it but they don’t seem that skilfull in actually mending anything. It’s just the site and I’m not getting too hung up trying to set everything right as long as we have the core functions working nicely.

Actually Spyro, that’s not a bad idea. The idea came the other day to me in the Toque Toffee thread. In the list, I’ve opted to file deKralingse as “Molens de Kralingse” with the full name noted. It will be under “M” I could have put it under “D” for “De Kralingse”, “K” for Kralingse, “S” for “Stichting”, or maybe “J” for Jaap. Any objections, particularly from Jaap? I can move it to “S” if we want to be very official, but browsing around the net, the common convention is “M”

@Xander: In Dutch the correct way of saying is (De) Kralingse molens. If I could choose it would be that name because our products are also sold under the names of Zwei Mühlen (Two mills in German) and Molens, which both refer to our production facilities. Our brand a French Lily on a eight pointed star also refers to the mills which names are de Ster and de Lelie (See attachment) Jaap Bes.

So you would like it under “D” or “K”?

Glossary is also a work in progress. What’s done is up there already. If anyone can define some of the undefined terms that would help. Getting the verbiage correct is dffcult. If I’ve ommitted words from the glossary, let me know.

Not a FAQ suggestion, but something I noticed. The homepage of snuffhouse.org has an HTML title that says “General”. Changing that to include the name of the site and a few appropriate keywords would help search engine optimization so more people can find it.

How to store snuff? Where can I buy snuff in tubs? (This could be a list of those vendors that offer snuff in bulk, not necessarily our supporting vendors though they do too. I’ve bought most of my bulk snuff from snuff.me.uk for example. They sell by credit card to the US. Maybe you could allow commenting on this question to get suggestions from other snuffers?) Why can’t I order snuff from the US? (What is the PACT Act?) How can I get notified of replies to a thread? (bookmark button) The FAQ so far is really great! Good job guys.
