Besides the traditional snuffbox for having a pinch, there are rarely pouring boxes available. Sure, a lot of the Pöschl snuffs come in the handy plastic pouring boxes, but I wanted a wooden box without a certain brand logo at it. After browsing through the several online shops, I found one at Ebay. I decided to contact the seller and asked him for his range. Finally I decided to buy a box made of teak. I paid 20€ for a hand made, solid, wooden snuff box, made of teak. It has a special mechanism which was invented by the producer himself. When pouring snuff, you push a wooden pin to release a small hole. If you want to refill the box you push the pin after it lets you detach the top of the box. It’s easy to use and good for carrying it in your pocket. Of course, it is not air-tight which means you should only put snuff for a day in it. The box is slightly oiled with harmless teak oil from the outside. It carries the number 3611. 3 stands for the kind of wood used, 6 for the year 2006 when manufactured and 11 for the eleventh box made of teak. The dowel is slightly tapered at the end which belongs to the front. The box size is about 6.5 cm x 4.5 cm x 2.5 cm, thus, a bit bigger than a zippo. The design of the mechanism is patented (industrial design). And it’s German, by the way.

Are you serious now or joking? I can ask the manufacturer if you want. Which wood do you prefer? If this was a joke…well, than I didn’t get it right. 
I couldn’t quite understand how the box works… Picture 1 - closed Picture 2 - ready to pour Picture 1 - closed again Don’t know if this helps? …how WELL is it working… Very well! I was expecting the snuff or dowel falling out, but no problem with that. If you shake it it indeed loses a tiny bit of snuff, but my pocket and desk is clean. The manufacturer makes the dowel fit to every box individually and exactly.
I am also interested, how much snuff does it hold?
It can hold quite a bit. I would guess around 10 gram. He offers the following wood types: Nut tree, Zebrano, Teak, Pearl wood, Crown of Thorns or Spurge (?) and Serpentwood. I don’t have a clue if the translations make sense, sorry. The dowels come in Beech, except for the Teak. The Beech gets darker over time after being in contact with the tobacco. So, the colour difference should more or less vanish. Just let me know which wood type you would like and I’ll check out if they are still available and what the costs are.

You can also use the dowel to adjust the amount of snuff coming out. The further you push it into the box, the more will come out. I guess you already thought about that.
