Hello all, As I mentioned in my intro I’m fairly new to snuffing, and I was thinking about creating a youtube channel to document my journey into the world of snuff. It would contain reviews, and most likely comments on what problems I have encountered and how to overcome them (fine snuff things similar to that). I was wondering if any of you have anything that you would like to see videos of on Youtube, things that there isn’t much of or just something you’d be interested in. Anyway any suggestions just drop 'em on here and we’ll go from there Many thanks and much love, Gewie EDIT: Here’s the link to my channel
i would definitely be very interested in watching. need more serious youtube snuffers, not the kids that pick up poschl gawith apricot and video themselves snorting it like coke thinking they’re edgy. maybe i could get in on it at some point if i feel like it.
Brill, well I guess I’ll start working on an intro video to get something on there whilst I decide what to do my first proper video on Am using the channel name SnuffBegins.
I have done snuff vids on youtube, not really a journey into snuff but you can see the vids chart my quitting smoking with smokeless, not intentionally but its all there to see.
Sounds good. Just don’t act too stoned like some. Watch your background. A little music is nice, just keep it at a proper level so it is not intrusive. And please don’t carry on about your personal life. Search for snuff reviews on youtube and you can get the gist. I do like the guy who does them while driving tho …!? Perhaps you could do them while taking a shower, mowing the lawn or performing surgery.
Surgery I like the sound of that, do you have any ailments that require attention?
Also here’s a link to the first video if anyone wants to subscribe http://youtu.be/971\\_\\_scIknU
I love TobaccyLassy’s videos, in case you are looking for inspiration. Natural engaged approach, well articulated reviews and interesting little anecdotes… You may find subject matters from this forum for an idea of what to make videos about and for things to bring to attention.
Great idea, thanks @Mario84
Yes Tobaccylassy is good, unfortunately she has gone quiet as have a number of other Youtube contributors.
Video is uploading now, as this is my first ever video it’s pretty bad, I mean my on camera mannerisms are terrible, but the next one should be a bit better and so on…so I’ll post the link here and you guys can let me know what you think Edit; here’s the link I know it doesn’t cover much but I’m planning on doing some more informative ones soon.
very good video as an introduction. i commented- where are you getting the music from? id point out that english snuffs in a tap box like the jockey club is are a bad idea- they dry out far too quick. try separating the info into different vids in future, it works here when you compare the snuffs as an introductory video, but itll get you more videos to do things individually in future. they were just notes- overall this was a great introductory video. as for the side note- i wonder if that lens would clip on my laptop’s built in webcam. ive been considering doing snuff videos for awhile.
Observations: Very nice video. Looks and sounds good. Info is relevant. No BS. Appreciate the tech info. (that’s OK) Keep On !!! Looking forward to more. @Gewie
@Firestarter0 good point about the tap boxes, you can see how dry it is it just falls out of the opening. Music is from freesound.org and incompetech.com there’s loads on there to chose from, and they are low hassle websites to download from, non of this signing up and registering BS. I would imagine the lens would clip onto a laptop, in terms of thickness as long as the screen isn’t much thicker than a smart phone. Thanks for watching and some great tips. @jpsavage thanks! I’m glad it was worth doing hopefully more will get better as they go on
its a macbook pro, so probably the same or thinner than iphone. might have to get a pack and try. Ill be following the series as long as it appears on my radar, maybe post an update here with each new video? it doesnt seem to have broken through onto my subs list.
How strange, will do I initially uploaded it as private then changed to public. That could be why
I loved this video. It’s a great introduction. I think it’s good that you made a video that shows comparisons and displays them neatly on a white background. The music is funny, hehe, but it’s charming and gives character. Cheers!
@Gewie a nice beginning. In case you are interested a snuff that is based on a food scent is generally referred to as “savory” as opposed to florals, medicated, etc. One thing I would like to see a youtube videographer do is a demonstration of how to open the 25g vacuum sealed tins from Samuel Gawith, J&H Wilson etc. I wish I had a dollar for everytime someone asked on here! I usually try to describe (if someone else hasn’t aldready) how to use a coin or flat head screwdriver to pop the lid off with a gentle twisting motion. Its really very easy once you know how, but it seems to perplex many.
@Xander that’s the word I was looking for as I said in the videos I’m such a noob just appreciate the honest advice it’s more helpful than you think! The tin idea is a good one, I presume it’s the same method for any of the tins that don’t have a screw thread on. Similar method to a shoe polish tin. @lunecat thank you gonna try and do different interesting music for each vid to keep things more dynamic. Will try and get some footage this weekend but I’m at my parents as my mum is ill. Watch this space I guess
I also have a ton of videos on YouTube. CramCake2. Snuff and pipe videos
@cramcake2 Nice vids man, its great to see what other people make videos about Power to the SnuffTubers!
Second video is out Here is the link Again, any tips/requests just holler at me and I’ll work on them. Tin video coming soon Tin Video Up now, link HERE
@gewie I just remembered a better word for food themed snuffs: gourmand.
@Xander very nice word I will endeavour to use it today in a sentence Thanks man
@Gewie Good vids there, you’re off to a great start. I like the way the vids are presented to those who know very little, and wish I’d found something like this as a reference when I first started. Keep it up :-bd Just an aside, and not a suggestion by any means, my own personal categories are … Menthol/Medicated - which I tend to avoid unless I’m really congested. “Medicinal” use only Toasts (and Scotches I suppose) - which I can only use occasionally if I am congested. There’s a fine line for me between being able to use a toast and having to use menthol Floral - I like the occasional pinch, but not regular use. They can be overwhelming for me SP/Plain - These are what my favourites/primaries tend to be (especially the coarser grinds). Generally the higher nic content too. Flavoured - Generally food/drink scents. A myriad of wonderful snuffs to accompany a primary snuff and brighten up your day. Generally lower nic content, but some real treats for your nose all the same
@50ft_trad That makes much more sense, I’ll make sure to refer to them that way in future videos. I’m planning on making a techniques video tomorrow, would there be anything you would have wanted to see as a beginner? Want to include as much helpful hints as I can.
@Gewie That’s just how I classify snuffs, and someone else might have a better suggestion. As for future themes, different snuffing techniques might be useful - pinch, spoon, bullet, boxcar, back of hand etc. Which technique you use for which snuff and why. Sizes of pinch you take. A comparison between GH/SG snuff in tap boxes (dried out) and fresh so people can see the importance of correct storage. Different storage methods. Hydration techniques. There’s a heap of different topics you could delve into
Just added my techniques vid here Do you guys think it would be interesting to make one of people taking snuff for the first time(friends and family of mine)?
@50ft_trad just added my Hydration Video
You’re showing how do particular snuffs look like! Just keep it doing! Subscribed!
@Viertel thanks man, will do!
Added a strange attempt at making my own, sort of worked! http://youtu.be/scuvA3vqhoI
I like the video, its making me want to grind my own snuff- i failed miserably last time, the grains felt too ‘sharp’ if you know what i mean… i was told to try adding a little moisture as i grind next time when it nears the grind i want, just to round out the edges. Nice looking Razer gear you got there too haha, Deathadder and Vespula? i use Abyssus and Sphex. nice stuff. you game?
haha yep, and the keyboard is MERC Stealth. Sometimes swap mice as I have a Cyborg RAT7 too although I need to sort my PC out as it need updating desperately. Started off playing WoW and then got into some more serious FPS gaming. Now I don’t dare buy the latest FPS games as I don’t think they’ll run all that well, so mainly play WoW, DOTA2 and just started on the hearthstone Beta.
I suppoes here is as good a place as any to ask whilst we’re on the topic of grinding your own snuff. As I understand it, cigars and pipe tobacco give off an alkaline smoke, and cigarettes give off an acidic smoke, which is what leads the nicotine to be absorbed in the mouth or lungs respectively. Shag tobaccos have been used as pipe tobacco but also by people rolling their own cigarettes, but I’m unsure of the alkalility there :-? How does snuff fare in all this? Obviously there is no combustion, but will snuff be “effective” from certain tobaccos but not from others, and are there ways for the home grinder to ensure the snuff “works”. Obviously the snuff can be scented at home, but what about making sure it’s compatible with the mucous membranes it settles upon. I might be looking way too deeply at this, but I’m just not sure I understood what the mechanics of this are, and didn’t feel I had cause to ask till now. I do have a few pipe tobaccos that are unlikely to get smoked (tried the pipe thing - but haven’t really clicked with it), but is just grinding it, sieving it and sticking up my nose enough?
Well it is probably luck of the draw on which tobaccos might irritate mucus membrane etc, however as I showed in the video all I have done is very simple, and after leaving it to hydrate overnight I now have a coarse interesting cherry snuff. It tastes ok…I mean it’s not close to being up to standards I would say that are great, but its snuffable and like anything you have made yourself it’s always a bit more special. Having said all that I’m sure there are ways to go about making it that are much more complex and would create a much more higher quality product. W/R to the acid alkaline, I have no idea, someone with more knowledge will have to add their input on that
Sorry if I confused issues :-S my post was less to do with getting a good grind/scent/nose feel etc, and more to do with bioavailability of nicotine from homemade snuff … or was at least meant to be
I can’t imagine one tobacco being more or less effective at transferring the nicotine, if it has a high nicotine content I would expect it to make a high nic snuff.
a little bicarb or sodium carbonate (about 1-3% i believe, so not much) mixed in with water is apparently the way to go. Red here for more detail. http://snuffhouse.vanillaforums.com/discussion/6043/baking-soda

Not from what I can glean. Just because a snuff is high in nic - doesn’t mean your nose will be effective at getting at it. It’s the alkilinity (I believe) that reacts with the membranse to effectively transfer it, but you have to get it right so you don’t burn your face off Not sure if there’s a litmus test (or similar) which will help optimise this :-?
Still trying to persuade the Mrs to try snuff on camera for a video. She thinks everyone will just laugh at her, well that’s the point isn’t it?
Sure some will laugh, But will she hear it from across the pond? Or if every time someone laughs she will feel they are laughing at her.Better choice; use your brother you don’t sleep with him.
Haha that made me chuckle, I’ll be seeing him over Christmas so will take a load back with me to pass around
This guy has a pretty good intro to snuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f42-jbPXVi8
@jpsavage haha great video, this guy sure seems to know his facts and figures! Lots of good detail in there too.
@Gewie Yeah I thought he did well. Has a lot of other vids but they concern other forms of tobacco. Mostly how to save $$$$
Yer I checked out his channel, seems to really put the effort in, with his mic clipped on and everything
Managed to get featured on Mr Snuffs Flics page here Whether they put only videos they like or any video on I’m not sure, but either way I’m pleased with it
Just posted a 4 part Seasonal snuff series review if anyone wants to have a look see, link here to first one
Sorry to resurrect an older thread but I just wanted to say that I’ve watched many of your videos and found them very informative. Thank you.

Thanks man, means a lot! Feels like I’ve come a long way since I started this thread. Up to 388 subscribers now and I’m having a great time making vids. The channel has kinda moved to snuff and pipe smoking but I think there are a fair few of us who do both, and I try to keep videos either about one thing or the other. Working on another review tonight Should be up later.
http://youtu.be/Y\\_63SKi4d9k Figured I’d throw this review up here too
Thanks, I am indeed one of the 388! Do some reviews of the Abraxas range…
Only have the Firedrac so far but I’ll get it on the to do list!
St.Casura and Cafe 11 - those interest me most! But I realise these things cost money! I’m currently watching your McChrystals review…
St.Casura and Cafe 11 Ordered
@Gewie don’t miss in the future to make reviews for Sir Walter Scott’s (Moro Moro,Auld Alliance and Lundy foot) really unique Arrows in your quiver…
@Nikolaos I’ll put them on the list! Aren’t they super expensive though?
@Gewie what you pay you take, That snuffs are Alive… At the end it’s worth the price
Just looked, they aren’t too bad actually. I’ll put them next on the list
@Gewie you will be very surprised…
Great videos!
Thanks @Kpod much appreciated
@Gewie … just wanted to say thanks for the insightful videos. I stumbled across them prior to joining snuffhouse and instantly subscribed. I particularly like the sections reviewing the grind, appearance, and moisture content in the videos.
@Southern_Snuffster aw thanks man, really appreciate the feedback I’m going to try and get a few more done this week.
@Gewie keep up the good work love the videos
