Bored. So damn bored this afternoon I felt worthless. The best way for me to get around that is always to make something, so I made this snuff spoon. It’s desert ironwood. The first person to speak up can have it, I simply need your mailing address and I’ll send it off. Just a way of giving back some of the great help I’ve received from this forum. Thanks for everything. Edit: I don’t know why the thumbnail isn’t showing up but the file seems to download. Hm.

J

Shows up for me. Did I win?

F

Damn…that’s some nice work diggity dave!!! Mighty nice of ya to give it away…somebody is very lucky!!

M

I’ll take it if you havn’t given it away. edm

S

OK, you made a snuff spoon, please try to send an attachment picture that does not stretch this forum?

D

Okay @Josh was the first one to speak up, so I’ll send it along Josh. The image still doesn’t show up for me, but I didn’t resize it before I put it up so I’ll do that next time.

S

@ ddavelarson, there is a bug, (one of many) large images should resize automatic. It is at an acceptable size now, and says at the bottom of your pic that it has been resized. But later it will be as big as ever! Alex is aware of this problem. It would help if members resized their images to no more then 650 pixels across. My regards, SnuffHead.

D

I’ll certainly keep that in mind for next time @SnuffHead, thanks. I didn’t plan to put the image inline but saw the button for that at the last minute and though I’d help people not have to download a large image. Should have thought about its size before I did that.

J

@ddavelarsen- Thanks thats awesome

D

@Josh, you’re most welcome. I hope it serves you well.

O

Very Nicely done. Too bad I missed this one.

D

Thanks for the nice comments guys. Making stuff is how I keep my head on straight sometimes. Gives me a chance to think about something that isn’t life altering. For anyone that’s interested, you can see other stuff I’ve made here: http://www.dave-larsen.com . Obviously, making stuff isn’t how I make a living!

D

@Micheltn thank you very much!

S

Yeah, some lovely work there Dave. I’m particularly impressed by the Arashi Tanto.

D

@Spam, that is one of the most popular patterns, I’ve made it often. Unfortunately, I don’t own of my own. Thanks for the kind words!

B

creativity doesn’t have a secret. It’s just creating stuff. My point go for it and you’ll find more creativity then you thought. Unless you’re a shity band then you’ll find far less then you assume you have either way…

F

This SHOULD be how you make a living!! That is some serious quality there…incredible man!

X

I think that’s a hurling stick.

S

@ Dave, A very interesting Site. Thank you for showing us your artistic work. I enjoyed looking.

D

Thanks for the kind words all. That’s what keeps me sane, is making stuff. Even stuff as insignificant as a snuff spoon. Bob you’re right that there’s no secret to it, it’s just a matter of doing it. Most people think they can’t but I’ve proven some of them wrong in my own shop. I’ve seen high school kids make great knives they never thought they’d finish, and it’s gratifying. Xander, you made me laugh out loud.

S

Dave you truely are a very talented dude! Awesome knives on your site. My favorite was the skinning axe.

D

Wow @snuffnpuff, you made my day! That picture of the skinning axe has been published more than any other of my work. I’m glad you like it. Danny actually uses it for skinning deer and has kept it looking like the day he got it. Customers like that are a wonderful thing. Compliments like yours are even better, because they always come out of nowhere, like a charm. Cool man, thanks!

J

wow , Dave. After checking your site, I’m freakin’ impressed!! Here I thought you dabbled in a little wood carving here and there and then I see the samurai warrior armor and I realize you’re many many levels above that, holy crap! Awesome craftsmanship there. btw, nice website too. Real professional looking.

D

Aw… Shucks. Thanks for the very kinds words @jbruckus! I just like making stuff. Doesn’t much matter what it is.

F

Translation for “Doesn’t matter what it is” Really kickass knives, armor, brass knuckles…you name it, I’ll make it!! Keep it up, Dave…you rock!!!

D

John, you’re the best - thanks brother. Y’all sure know how to make a man feel good! I’m on cloud nine with all the compliments.

E

Definitely great stuff! Thank you for sharing. You need to make more spoons though! I’d buy one I haven’t acquired a spoon yet

W

I’ve only just got round to looking at your site @ddave, and bloody hell i’m impressed. I agree with @fisch that is how you SHOULD make a living, but if you can’t or won’t then ffs don’t stop, you make some class stuff! Stefan

D

You guys - my head’s getting so swollen my wife won’t speak to me. LOL! Thanks for the very kind words, I really appreciate it. I was lucky to get a little shop time in this morning. Eric, I will keep you in mind when I make another wooden snuff spoon. I found some good material for some today, so maybe I’ll get round to that this weekend.

B

Agree with everyone else you are one talented guy the craftmanship in your work is awesome

D

Wow man, thank you so much!

P

Yes lovely stuff…Thinking of making some nice snuff boxes?

D

I’m afraid accurate woodworking is beyond my scope. I’d love to be able to do that, but haven’t the tools or skills to pull it off. I’m just going to have to content myself with the nice boxes that are already available.

E

That would be great Dave thanks

F

Hey Dave, if Butters gets a spoon, Kyle and Stan better get one too!!

E

@Fisch lmao!

B

Dave, have you ever thought about making pipe tampers? I’d buy one! or two.

T

@ddavelarsen Dave you kickass man! I’ll let you know through a PM when I receive my spoon so we can arrange a trade/payment. I’m rather flexible. Oh, and I’m sorry I’ve left you hanging with the video reviews. I PROMISE they are still coming- it’s just been a minute since I’ve used my webcam and for some reason this software can’t be found online. So long story short- I’m too poor for a new camera right now but when it happens you will be the first to know PS- Kyle and Stan DO NOT need spoons. Kenny already has his sticking outta his head. You killed Kenny, you BASTARD! hehe

N

I’ll second the suggestion to make pipe tampers, I’ll certainly buy one. And if you don’t get a spoon for Cartman you’re going to be in some serious trouble!

D

I’ll consider the pipe tamper idea, that would be pretty straightforward and offer lots of opportunity for embellishment. Maybe a tamper on one end and a spoon on the other!

B

Maybe a tamper with a hollow body to store a small amount of snuff!

T

@ddavelarsen: fantastic work on your site, mate - I’m really impressed with your craftsmanship, absolutely outstanding.

T

Hey @ddavelarsen… do you have the ability to make a genesis atty?

B

@ ddavelarsen… that’s a killer idea. I have a Brebbia pipe tamper that has one square end and a notch/spoon depression on the other. I use it just that way, tamp my pipe, dip the other end in a tin of snuff… A really nice wood one would be great, and functional.

D

All you fine people - thanks for the compliments and ideas! I will certainly consider and probably experiment with making tampers. I don’t currently have the raw material needed for either brass or wood (well, certainly I have wood, I’ll look into that), but will definately see what I can come up with soon. @transistor - Rob, my making skills are limited to removing excess material! I could no more make an atty than a spacecraft. LOL! But thanks for the vote of confidence!

X

Michaelangelo only had to remove excess material as well.

J

@ddavelarsen- I hadn’t read this thread in a while and just checked your site. All I can say is incredible. I feel lucky to have a piece of work from such a talented person. Keep up the great work.

D

@josh, thanks for the kind words! I hope you’re well served with your spoon. @Xander, you made me LOL again!

T

@ddavelarsen Hey dave I’m sorry I COMPLETELY spaced sending you payment yesterday. Check your PP account I sent you $13. Thank you SO MUCH for this spoon it is perfect!

D

@transistor - PayPal is good, I got that notification before I saw your note. Thanks so much for your support. If you come across any SG Vanilla any time soon, keep me in mind as I’m having a vanilla jones! I hope the spoon serves you well for many years.

T

@ddavelarsen Okay good. Thank you I LOVE my spoon. My fiance really wants one, so if you make any more please send me another! I’d be happy to pay for it or whatever. SG Vanilla-- I already know I fully intend I snagging some up or atleast letting you know if I see any. I’ve heard Tonka Beans add a vanilla scent to your snuff, if you took a good SG natural snuff and added one I bet it’d be good! But I understand, it’s probably not the same! Don’t worry, I’m on the lookout!

D

@transistor - you’re the Man Rob!

E

Only vanilla I’ve tried is Toques and I love it. I’m a big vanilla fan I need to try out SG’s version. Sorry to get off topic lol

D

@EricHill79, I love Toque Vanilla too, but the SG version has a much more pronounced vanilla flavor that I love. It’s going to be my next bulk purchase, no doubt about it. Talking about snuff is never off topic!
