Snuff Reviews most recent has been stuck on a O&G review for three days now, is it just me?

Looks like Al is active again. A lot more has been cleaned up and new snuffs added. Some of the S. African ones are sorted out now.

Oh no, expired domain name?

Thats been on the cards for a long while. For whatever reason he didn’t keep it up after its creation. I stopped posting a long while ago as I could just see them all disapearing one day.

I’ve stopped adding reviews to this site now. It seems to be teetering on the brink and I don’t want my hard work deleted. It’s a shame really. I really think a review section should be added to this forum, with a similar format to the snuffreview site.

I thought that Mr. Snuff and Nicotinerush had paid banners there? And didn’t people donate $$ to keep it afloat? I think it’s time that someone else take over the domain, or when Alex does the redesign, maybe add that feature here like so many have recommended.

I offered to take it over quite some time ago but it’s his creation and I think he’d rather see it go than give it up to someone else. It’s also my understanding that Al coded the site himself, which makes it more difficult for someone to step in unless they have similar coding knowledge.

If there will ever be any code-related problems, I’ll be glad to help. I occasionally make websites to make some extra money, although I’m currently stuck with making javascript games.

Well, I think everyone should start using Filek’s site for reviews. If I were a reviewer, I wouldn’t add anymore to Snuffreviews, as it is simply too unpredictable.

I’ve been adding my reviews to both sites as well as my own for quite some time. It seemed like a good idea, and proved to be one.

I heard from Al as recently as the 22 of June. He was actively implementing some corrections I had submitted. He also said life was improving for him. The renewal may have slipped his mind.

Just tried emailing Al in regards to this. The mail is linked to the domain, so it was returned. I haven’t got any other email address for him. I keep all my own reviews in my snuff log anyway. Easy enough to cut and paste when I write them.

If snuffreviews should fold/move for some reason, I happen to have a month old (simplified to .html) local copy of the whole site with all (I think) the reviews. So at least there’s a back-up for people who want their own reviews back…

What can we do to save this site? I’m willing to contribute money wise but who must I contact?

Pieter, that’s been done and it seems it didn’t help. Even if it should return I won’t be posting any more reviews there. I shall keep on using Filek’s site. Never been a problem with that one.

Why should people donate more money? If he doesn’t show much interest in keeping the site up to date or online, it would be a waste of money.

I think the most logical solution is to have a proper review section here. This is afterall the mother site.

I always preferred the cleaner layout of the snuffreviews site. Filek’s has too much on the page.

Yeah, Filek’s site is too large for mobile browser and clumsy for full browser too.

Guys calm down, I simply didn’t notice the renew date as I was on vacation. I have just paid for the year so you have nothing to worry about. Also I always back up the review database all the time so your reviews are safe. As for those who don’t review anymore I promise the site isn’t going anywhere for a long time.

Thanks Whalen I appreciate it. Most don’t realize how much code I wrote for that site for it to be fully dynamic. Miamimark the phone is certainly the best I’v owned. My last phone was the BB Bold and it doesn’t even compare.

My “old” phone is a HTC hero which I flashed to metro pcs. I’ve become a real fan of the android phones. I run my whole biz on google calender, gmail, etc.

I love the principal of android however since AT&T has been the best compromise service provider for me I am stuck with their android offerings which are terrible. One day though. I am no apple fan boy, but the iphone works, that is all there is to it. It is the closest to a laptop replacement I have ever had in this form of device. Ken

I had an Iphone for the length of the two year contract then I got rid of it. Where I live the ATT service is horrible! I do realize of course the signal strength will vary depending on the area. My sprint “everything” plan is about $50.00 a month cheaper than a comparable ATT plan. I did like the iphone tho…

I tested the backflip for a good deal of time in the store. Both the floor model and the one an empoloyee was using to get to know it as it was the first day out. Both phones crashed on me doing basic things like checking the calendar and composing email. As in crash complete shutdown and reboot crashing. Now remember these phones came out that day, and the floor model maybe had three people look at it and play with it, it was kind of tucked away and not heavily pushed by AT&T at the time. The employee phone was only messed by with him and also crashed doing basic things. So I walk over to the iphone, and keep in mind I really wanted to prefer the android phone, I wanted the android phone to win. Well the 3gs on the wall, that had probably been on that wall for 6 months, been touched by 20+ people a day average as everyone has to mess it when they phone shop. Well it didn’t crash on me once, not once, didn’t matter what I did. There were other factors. Believe it or not the on-screen iphone keyboard was better demo testing than the backflip, and having gotten used to the iphone typing I just got faster at it. The backflip was not comfortable or responsive, I got big hands, take that opinion as subjective as can be. Typing experience is never universal. Specific gripe about the backflip, was AT&T’s Yahoo slam into it eliminating basic android google searching. Yahoo and I are not friends. Then the one other thing, usage, the iphone is actually pretty easy for a non-tech to get their heads around, the backflip and android in general felt less “elegant” again subjective and although I am a tech person I got a wife and three kids that sometimes need to use my phone. So it needed to be powerful, but easy enought to do basic things for the non-tech. My wife loves my iphone in that respect. So all in all it was a big win win for my personal usage. AT&T signal is not the greatest by me either, but when I am home I have wifi and vonage, etc. The iphone is for away from home and in that it works great reducing my electronics luggage no matter the length of the trip.
