I’m in a coffee shop, the rich luxurious aroma drifting and dancing all around. The atmosphere is comforting. I reach for my Danish pastry and take a sumptuous bite. Am I in Heaven? Nearly. I’ve just taken pinches of my Cafe 11 laced Irish Coffee follow by Creme de Figue. To say I’m amazed doesn’t seem enough. I was somewhat dubious of these high end snuffs but this combination has been my awakening. I believe. Problem now is will I ever be able to use my other snuff again? Anyone describe similar snuff revelations?

I hooked a buddy up with an empty tin filled with Viking Dark from my stash to help him quit smoking. I noticed when he uses snuff he opens up the tin and takes 2 or 3 pinches in each nostril. I realized that since I"m no longer a noob I can take repeated pinches and get a bit of the old nicotine rush I used to.

A concern of mine.

My awakening today was trying my very first mix of two snuffs, and discovering that Taxi Blue and Grand Cairo mixed 50:50 smells exactly like… a public loo in the 1980s Seriously! That combination of barnyard fermentation of the Taxi and the perfumey floral… well maybe you can imagine. I had to blow my nose quite vigourously. I think I have some to learn about mixing…

They key is rotation wheather daily, weekly, monthly etc, you can (and do) get burned out one one snuff (I do anyway), so I rotate what I use, so its always a pleasure each time I take a toot of whatever it is I am using. Its refreshing to go back to a certain snuff after a break, one day I will think, oo not had x in a while, I will get the tin, take some and realise why I enjoyed it so much. In a nutshell thats my snuff taking rotation, I fancy a change so reach for one I haven’t had for a while, then that leads to the next one. Then a new one comes out that I need to try, and so goes the snuff taking cycle

Ok, that was all yesterday. Rotation is great. Blending is great. The great effect yesterday I think was because the WoS Irish coffee with Cafe 11 got my nose juiced so that when I took the Fique it stayed up there otherwise it’s terrible stuff for falling out of the nose. First I got the Chocolate/Coffee followed by the Fique liqueur and kind of pastry scent. When later I went back to it after trying other snuffs I couldn’t get the same wonderful intensity as I had in the morning with a fresh nose so it’s definitely best appreciated when other snuffs are not interfering. Anyhow today I’m developing Cherry Cheesecake. I had some GH Cherry which I don’t like at all so threw a lot of Dholakia Black into it which I also don’t like. It improved but still to much sweet Cherry. Had some Black Watch to use up so in that went and I think better again but still not as good as I’d like. So I sniffed around the options and decided a few F&T’s might dull the cherry and they did. So I’m lying in bed testing this and I get this Cherry flavour which slightly reminds me of cheese cake topping but without the pastry biscuit base so bingo out comes the Dragun and thats it sorted. Lovely stuff. Also tried adding a little Lundy Foot (not bad) and Double Fermented but both of these did not really help so in future I will leave the blend as above because it is pretty delish. A successful mornings blending I think but it’s always best to reserve complete judgement until a day later at least until all the flavours have settled down but maybe I will use all 30g today? Just kidding.

Where I live it is VERY dry and I had tried deKralingse Bon-Bon a couple of times and thought “Oh this is pleasant a little like sweet ice tea, kind of subtle in scent…”. But then I took a big pinch before tackling a big sink full of dishes and the steam made the Bon-Bon come alive, it was like inhaling a box of candy truffles and it lasted a very, very long time. Now I ‘try out’ snuffs while doing the dishes, when I exit the shower, or just before hitting the steam room at the gym and have found I was missing out on a lot of intense aromas.

A while back I had some deKralingse Pompadour that had gotten dry in a snuff box. It’s not my favorite, but I didn’t want to just throw it away. I tossed in some Ozona Orange (didn’t know when or if I would ever finish that one) and shook it up, and was very pleasantly surprised. I guess you just never know until you try…
