I went to Weston-super-mare a weeks ago and took a tin of O&G and my snuffbox full of Toque BB (simply because they were in my rucksack). Whilst I had a jolly good day out two strange developments have occurred… Firstly, my O&G it has developed a strange, new, slightly salty character. Perhaps I’m a little more surprised by that than I should be. Should I dispose of it and has the exposure to salt air increased the likely hood of the tin to eroding? Secondly, upon opening my snuffbox I was met with a plume of powder, the likes I have never seen. It seemed more sand coloured, so it could be the fact sand got in my box. The BB is dry as a bone, so I’ll probably dispose of it, but it looks like there are little grains of salt on the inside of the box. Any ideas if this will damage it? should I just air the box out as I would when I’m changing snuffs? I fear I may regret taking my snuff to the beach…
I regret taking my snuff to the beach as well. I was at Daytona last weekend and I totally forgot about the tin of Wilsons Super Menthol and Gawith Cola in my trunks. Oh well, live and learn.
Ouch. That really must have hurt when you realised that you hadn’t taken your snuff out of your trunks. I can’t say much about the salt in the snuff but I can’t see what major damage it would do to the O&G but I’d still throw it away. I shall however take note not to take snuff with me to the beach.
Taxi, Ntsu and Babaton plastic boxes are waterproof.
^ And they come in nice beach colours.
I always just grab a tin of American Scotch for all my beach (and for that matter any out door) activities. Scotches here are easy to come by, the containers are pretty weather proof, and if I loose/ruin it, I just go pick up another tin from the grocery store. My imported snuff I reserve for more everyday (indoor or running errands) use That said I don’t know why you would have to throw snuff away just because it was exposed to salt air (unless it just tastes nasty to you). Otherwise, it won’t hurt you, though it might be a good idea to transfer it to a plastic container if you are worried about tin corrosion
