Hello everyone! firstly: I’ve been lurking and learning for a while and i’ve only just created an account. I’ll be doing a presentation post tonight, I promise! Secondly: I’ve been snuffing for a while and i’ve become a fan of SPs. I really like the flavor of Toque Original but I find its ground WAY too fine and WAY too dry for me to take. I’m a useless noob and no matter what I do it seems to end up all the way in my throat. It’s pretty nasty… I’ve been enjoying Gawith and Hoggarth Kendal SP (the one that comes in the golden box, with the yellow label) and I find that the coarseness and level of humidity are absolutely PERFECT for me. Can you guys recommend any other snuffs that possess the same qualities? They don’t have to be SPs as i’m looking to expand my horizons, so all suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance!
@Kaboom. Welcome to the forum! I am a noob too. I have not tried the Kendal yet but I find the med. grind very easy to take. I like The Snuff Store’s Black Magic, which seems to be similar if not identical to Viking Dark. I also really like SG’s Fire Dance, very easy to take no issues at all for me. I am getting ready to open a jar of Viking Blonde, which others have indicated would be a nice grind for a newbie too.
Samuel Gawith snuff, most are moist and coarse grind. Just don’t bother with their fruit snuffs. You can Hydrate most snuff to suit your needs. I am not a fan of GH snuff mainly because of the packaging ,had too many spilled while shipped. So I really can’t compare. SP are many- Three of my favorites , Abraxas St Casura, WoS SS, SG SP No1.High Mill.
I’m quite a fan of SP’s as well and my current favourite is Samuel Gawith No1 High Mill. Easy to take and not too fine nor to coarse. I highly recommend it. Be sure to get the tinned version as opposed to tap box, unless you live down the road from the mill. As for throat hits…keep at it, one day it will fall into place. I’m 5 years on with snuff and still learning the subtleties of technique with each snuff and how my nose responds to it.
