Sometimes anxiety like when I post, just kidding but sometimes during the day I think that maybe I should be doing something more useful than lying in my recliner in from of the internet square with my square eyes snuffing a lot and going a bit zonked. Ordering indecision. Getting a snuff you hate… Get it off your chest here. Like annoying posters perhaps?
The only negative effect I get is when I don’t snuff.
Only negative effect I get is when a snuff is missing from order or opened in sack … Try to order enough so they will box it. Common sense warehouse. @ I_snuff_therefore___ … By chance are you trying to say in code, you are snuffing square snuff? ( mentioned word SQUARE twice in opening thread ( OT) Must be a campfire smell by your recliner…
Sometimes I snuff way too much before bed and have trouble falling asleep just because the damn stuff can be so stimulating. Cigarettes are like a quick punch of nicotine with every puff and it can feel somewhat “intoxicating”. Snus and dip is the same way but stronger and with no punch. Snuff on the other hand really puts some pep in your step.
Ok I was a bit drunk and insane and rambling when I wrote that. You all passed the test. No negative effects. Something similar to hours92 and the type of thing I was really alluding to in the opener was that for me this last few days I have begun to get a kind of anxiety affect after taking snuff almost as if I was (alledgedly) stoned on dope. I sure never had that while smoking and never noticed it so much from snuff before. I on the other hand was having really great sleeps and when waking have this great feeling of rising from the depths of sleep. Turns out though that I think I have been overdosing by combining the nico gum with the snuff and probably to much caffine. The night I wrote that rambling opener (which somehow seemed funny and cryptic at the time?) I went to bed shortly after and I was mighty buzzing after just Merlot Wine and snuff and some gum but I still had a great sleep. The wine took the edge off the anxiety (which probably stems from the possibility of loosing my house in this super-recession) and sleeping is not to be thinking about problems so I was happy asleep. No nico gum this morning (which I wanted to quit anyhow) and so far no problem. I will need to keep an eye on that evening wine with snuff enjoyment but luckily the local shop isn’t doing any good offers at the moment. Last time they were doing 6 bottles of very nice French Merlot for £17.
too much nicotine or caffine can cause anxiety.
For me the negative aspects are: Paranoia about anything escaping (nose running) and appearing on my top lip (it’s not doing me ANY favours out there) Use of snuff outdoors - breeze/wind (except if using bullets, which can be a pain in their own right) The state of my keyboard (need to get a little blowy thing or sucky thing)
too much nicotine or caffine can cause anxiety.
I think whats happening is that the further I get away from smoking the less nicotine I need and my tolerance for it is also reducing. I’m stoned again. Had some more gum and that definitely seems to be what’s doing it but I’m not as anxious anymore. I am a bit hyper though. Went out cycling while it was sunny and sat out in the countryside almost in a daze just watching the birds and listening to the silence (man). Sort of reminded me of some antidepressants I once tried. Used to be very strange riding my motorcycle while on those.
Yeah 50ft I’m the same way with paranoia about having crap all over my face when I’m in public, I want to start carrying a little pocket mirror or something so I can check my nose out real quick. Usually I just chew tobacco if I’m walking around, that’s socially acceptable where I live.
I’ll be honest, chewing has never appealed to me. Nice idea with the little mirror though
I definitely can’t write or spell correctly after a good snuff blast. Even reading seems to suffer. Think we need an edit button pretty badly, well some of us. The others seem to keep it to one line as a coping mechanism. I remember when I first tried a decent snuff, Best SP I think it was, my eyes felt like those of a cartoon character when they suddenly enlarge hugely before relaxing back into place. I really tried with this post and bet there are still mistakes galore.
Confucious say: " ONE WHO DOES BIG PINCHES OF SNUFF, WILL FIND LARGE WALL MIRROR HANDY"
Was he in the hall of mirrors at the time by any chance?

There is an edit button. In the upper right corner of your post you should see a black gear icon, click on it and select “edit”.
Thanks, I felt around with the mouse as it isn’t obvious on my nice 24 inch Samsung LED. Why is it black on a black background? anyhow that will be most useful. Got a lot of editing to do! Is there any hidden delete button or do you just edit everything out?
Sometimes nose stuffs up. I then do fubar medicated mixed with hedges. Negative affect = doing laundry to wash all the bandannas I soak.
My face feels a bit numb when I wash. Must be full of nicotine.
Brown snot, a brown nose, brown spots on various parts of your face and FILTHY hankerchiefs! But it’s well worth it!
Right now I’m sitting at home wearing a big bib to keep my shirt clean!

I wish I knew that back when I was 13 pounding through packs of smokes and chugging cups of coffee. Such poor habits definitely had a negative effect on my performance in school and my social life. Thank god I grew up. Look to the future, don’t dwell on mistakes made in the past. I want to write a poem now.
I have a sneaking suspicion that my over zealous use of tobacco products has made me sensitive to the rays of the sun. I had quit all tobacco products some years back and had no problems after I quit. But since I join the forum I had bumped up my tobacco use. Snuff by 40 % chew X 60% and snus X 100 % My pipe smoking is about the same. Grant it my heritage being fair skin has a role to play,But as I stated when I had been tobacco free I had no problems with sun exposure. I suppose I should let my hair grow long or get a Sherlock Holmes hat.
Noticed last night: Drinking a glass of water. What would have been a perfectly crystal clear refreshing glass water, now had hints of rose, and violet, and … I suppose if your water quality is bad that might be a bonus, but it was a negative for me
My appetitie seems to be returning to a stage I remember before I ever smoked and I might lose that stone weigth I’ve been wanting to, so I sneaked in what seems to be a benefit. We’ll allow a few. Don’t want this thread to be all miserable but I suppose snuff isn’t a complete miracle wonder drug and there may be some interestingness to share. Oh S***, I’ve blasphemed, cut off my nose! I haven’t received my SWS yet though. Temporay stay of punishment in lieu of fully reformed redemtion.
I’m going to assimilate that and turn it into a negative: Snuff gives me my appetite back as it replaces cigarettes, which means I now have to get off my arse and get some food going instead of deferring it to later (if at all) with another cancer stick
I think I ate more immediately after stoping smoking but that really seems to have gone away now. Maybe snuff is a bit of a wonder drug (see reforming already) it makes the heavy (muscle) person lighter of that stomach excess and helps the malnourished! Looking forward to getting one of those sixpacks. LOL manically. Of beer of course.
It does make my blood pressure a little high. My baseline blood pressure is about 110/70 but if I take a lot of snuff it will get into the lower 130s. Not that lower 130s is actually dangerous. And that’s only when I take a LOT of snuff, my ordinary pinches will push it up to maybe 120 at most. And unlike smoking cigarettes, smokeless tobacco won’t do anything permanent to your heart (source: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12704595). Another negative effect, towards the end of the day my sense of smell will be pretty deadened if I’ve been snuffing heavily, just because there’s so much dried snuff in my nose I think.
The only thing I could say is a negative is first thing in the morning. I will wake up with a dry nose. I’ll have a whistle in my nose until I take a pinch and re-moisten everything. But that’s it, I will totally accept that.
Some people mentioned using mirrors when out to check their face. I still use white tissues and then I can tell if I wipe off any crap how bad my nose is but I try to do it inconspicuously ( could be good as sort of spy training or something ) with my back to anyone around in case they should think what the hell is that crap comming out of his nose, did you see that brown stain but I don’t think other people really pay much attention when you wipe your nose with a tissue. I try not to use much anyhow when out and about. Maybe something perfumey and long lasting. If I’ve been cycling I usually need two tissues at least afterward and everything comes out, ready for a fresh reload.
I think tissues are the way to go, more hygenic than a rank hanky. I have a funky pocket tissue holder that goes in my work bag so that I always have a little supply to ensure I keep looking clean.
I think it was Wilsons who told me of one chap (a Norfolk farmer, if memory serves) who got through several ounces a week, ramming it into his ear (!) - eventually suffered some mix of hearing loss and cancerous condition. Only other case I know of is a Welsh tobacconist who has an old lady who gets through three or 4 tins of Hedges a week, and always has assorted warts, boils and other various swellings and discolourations around her nose - but she has survived to a significant age (80s at least, from what I gather). Bearing in mind, in the present age of persecuting smokers, there are still doctors who suggest snuff for some colds and nasal conditions. Certainly it works at least as well for my somewhat allergy-prone nose as several prescription-only steroid-based nasal sprays I have used in the past. There are one or two quite erudite pieces of medical research cited somewhere on Wilsons’ Web site.

I think I’m going through about that much these days. Maybe even a little more Methinks it’s time to start buying in bulk.

I’ve heard that story about the guy and his ear a lot but there never is any reason given why he may have done that? Almost looking forward to getting a cold and it should be soon, spring and autumn seem to be when I get them. It will be first one since using snuff and I can then discover how those menthols might help. Cigarettes certainly didn’t, in fact they prolonged things sometimes way to long. Anyone ever notice palms sweating after a high dose. Was one occasion I couldn’t shake hands with someone as it would have been quite embarasing. So I just made up some excuse about coming into the heat from the cold outside but it was definitelly the snuff for the most part. Probably linked with blood pressure increase? I am not medically knowledgable.
Yeah a couple blasts of D White will definitely get my palms sweating. It’s not directly caused by blood pressure AFAIK, just sympathomimetic stimulation in general.
Ahhh the old sympathomimetic stimulation. I see. What?
Ahhh the old sympathomimetic stimulation. I see. What?
The sympathetic nervous system is the one that controls the fight-or-flight response among other things. The main neurotransmitters IIRC are dopamine and adrenaline. Sympathomimetic drugs mimic or inhibit the reuptake of those chemicals. This causes increased bowel motility, increased sweating, pupil dilation, vasoconstriction, increase in heart-rate and respiration, etc.
