On my intro thread, someone suggested that I make a perique snuff. Fortunatly I already had some dried out for the purpose of making cigarettes. I tried putting it into a food processor, but I couldn’t get all of it fine enough. I was just going for a dry toast consistoncy. I did scrape a little powder from the side and tried it. It tasted very fruity, and had a little mustiness to it with a suprising kick! It was made with McClellands pure blending perique. On a side note, I did manage to make some excellent coffee snuff. I took Tops mild scotch, which I thought would work best becuse it is the only neutral snuff I have"I have the old helme variety, maybe it is just old). Anyways I put some in a peice of tin foil, and stuck it in some itialian roast starbucks coffegrounds. After 3 days I have my new favorite snuff!
I love perique and also Latakia. And, I think a lot of my pipe tobacco is dry from not being used fast enough…blame snus and snuff for that! I need to think about making some snuff out of it. New life can come from basically ruined stuff.
Mortar, pestle and a sieve. You can also still smoke the bigger pieces no problem. My side note is Penzance as snuff. Too woodsy for me but the beef jerky is still there. Next up will be NightTrain. Now that is going to be great. If there weren’t so many well made commercial snuffs I’d be just fine making my own. P.S… I am the somebody.
