A Pinch of Snuff by Dean Snift is available to read on Google books. I posted this on the Snufftalk board 1 June, but I guess that no one is checking on the board in Andy’s absence. I understand that a pdf of the book is available at that Yahoo group. http://books.google.com/books?id=gdwDAAAAQAAJ&pg=PA127&dq=lundy+foot’s#PPA126,M1

E-book versions of Pinto’s “Wooden Bygones…” & Curtis’ book on snuffboxes are available at: http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=snuff%20AND%20mediatype%3Atexts%20AND%20collection%3Auniversallibrary

Alex; you can add Fairholt’s Tobacco: it’s History & Associations to the list of e-books. Fairholt

Snuff and Snuff Boxes: Hugh Mcausland, Batchworth Press, London 1951 The Book of Snuff and Snuff Boxes, Matoon M. Curtis, Liverwright Publishing Corporation, New York, 1935. The Mcausland is a gem but of course well out of print. The second is less readable and has a much more dated style

Nicotiana: The Smoker’s & Snuff-taker’s Companion Another old classic available at Google, Alex.

Snuff Yesterday and Today is available at Snufftalk: Book Link

German Language Page "WIE UND WORAUS DER SCHNUPFTABAK GEMACHT WIRD: ODER MANCHE MÖGENS GESCHMALZEN " Entertaining short article that some of you may find interesting interesting.

Monographia del tabacco by Giuseppe Mauro (1866) in Italian from Google Books contains a lot of information on the old Italian snuffs: Book Link

The British Perfumer: being a collection of choice receipts… by Charles Lillie (1822) Book Link I’ve been waiting for Google to make this one available for quite some time. A must read for anyone interested in the early history of snuff in England.

No, but there is a copy available: Link

The seven sisters of sleep: popular history of the seven prevailing narcotics of the world (Google eBook) http://tinyurl.com/3o8swsv Mordecai Cubitt Cooke (James Blackwood, Paternoster Row, 1860) Contains a good section on tobacco & snuff.

OT books you all might enjoy: http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/18096 - “The Social History of Smoking” - haven’t read this one yet… it’s been sitting on my Kindle for months http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/18934 - “My Lady Nicotine” a (fictional?) story of a man and his group of friends that get together to smoke pipes in 19th century London and the little adventures they have. Highly recommended read. Both are public domain books that are free to download in a variety of formats.

TOBACCO: ITS HISTORY, VARIETIES, CULTURE, MANUFACTURE AND COMMERCE, WITH AN ACCOUNT OF ITS VARIOUS MODES OF USE, FROM ITS FIRST DISCOVERY UNTIL NOW. BY E. R. BILLINGS. 1875 The title pretty much tells it all, comes with a chapter devoted to snuff.
