Snuff in nazi Germany

Hi guys, I am looking for nazi-related historical snuff informations. I need names of nazis who used to take snuff, photos of tins, infos about factories, nazi nasal snuff politics, propaganda, seeing it in society etc “Aryan” Germany was one of the first countries which started anti-tobacco campaign, smoking dangers were proved by nazis, etc, but it is all about smoking - finding anything about nasal snuff is real difficult, so I would be very happy if you help me.

No info, but i have previously read that Hitler was fiercely anti tobacco. Says a lot really. He was an ex smoker and if memory serves me correctly he mentions it in “mein kampf”. Dont ask me to delve into that rubbish though.

Hitler had been smoking for 27 years, since he was eight years old. It is the most grotesque person in whole human history, but that’s not the point, I’m interested in infos about nasal snuff in Third Reich.

Are you only interested in the snuff factories in Das Dritte Reich or also in the occupatied countries? What about Bernard Tabak and Poschl Tabak that exist today? Does that count.

@Filek of course they counts, but only from period 1933-1945 - was anything changed, did they have any troubles due to nazi politics, connections between them and NSDAP (if were so), etc. @Roderick do you have any further informations or sources where I can find more about Goring’s snuff habit and these snuff boxes? I have only found some auctions for now. I wonder also if german society attitude to snuff those days was the same as before Hitler’s getting power, were any nazi-related anti-snuff (or pro-snuff) propaganda.

Looking at snuffboxes recently I came across a WWll era snuffbox that looked to be officially issued. Looked to have the eagle and swastika on one side, with some sort ofvworded engraving on the other side, so they must have had at least a bit of a snuff culture.

Snuff use and pipe smoking were popular among Orthodox Jews, and since the Nazis claimed tobacco was introduced into Germany by the Jews, it seems likely that snuff was a target of anti-tobacco propaganda. Here is a good article which you may have already read .https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-tobacco_movement_in_Nazi_Germany

Yup, there is a lot of articles about anti-tobacco movement in the Third Reich, many about Hitler’s attitude, german doctors etc. but I have never found any about nasal snuff. I don’t remember why did he actually stopped smoking (he had been smoking since he was eight years old! stopped in 1919 or 1924, can’t recall exactly, but it was more than 20 years lifelong), but from what I know, he just couldn’t handle cigarette smoke. He was calling smoking “taking drugs” so I think, he just didn’t want to be tempted to start smoking again - maybe it was the main reason of these all anti-tobacco campaigns. But that’s the point where I got stuck - if the problem was in smoke, not tobacco itself, what about nasal snuff? No infos has been found by myself yet. I’m really, really curious. @BeeMan nice photo

Bernard: During the Second World War factory building’s roof has been damaged. http://www.schnupftabak.net/bernard-schnupftabak-gmbh/ Pöschl (translated by Google Translator, sorry; I don’t have time to translate it on my own): While the company could be safely guided through the first world war , demanded the second world war, the Pöschl family a lot more from . Since 1936, the sons of the entrepreneur Pöschl work for the company . Alois Pöschl Junior It is thanks to that raw material shortages were overcome after the second world war and the production could be resumed. This was only possible because the first employee came back from the war in their home town of Landshut. During the war, parts of the company building were bombed and damaged. The family had to after the second world war , however tackle new problems , because the war-torn German population has hardly any money for " luxury products " left. Like the father , the two sons Alois Pöschl Junior and William Pöschl excellent marketing strategists and further differentiate their own products and create the brand name " double flavor " and " Tropical " . The Schmalzler double aroma is a double fermented and subtly flavored Schmalzler . The well-known tabakschnupfende man was also created by the Pöschl brothers and printed on the packaging of the double flavor. As mentioned above, smoking tobacco was introduced as another mainstay of the family in July 1949. The first two brands were called " Hansa- Krull " and " Adriatic". At Hansa, Krull is a spicy blend of different tobaccos , for example Virginia tobaccos from America. The more nuclei and honest taste is an excellent fit to the name Hansa , because the Dutch character of the mixture reflects the Rough seas very well again . http://www.schnupftabak.net/poschl/
