Snuff Humidors

I have so many tins of snuff and I like to use a wide variety at once and was wondering how to best store it in a humidor. Snuff seems to pick up scents so easily that I’m wary of putting many flavors in one humidor. Is it something I need to worry about? I stored some snuff in a humidor with a lot of schmalzler and it all smelled a little of schmalzler, but that is a strong scent. Also, can a humidor make drier snuffs too moist?

Never used one. When you think about it, a humidor is used to regulate humidity but snuff should be kept in airtight conatiners, so a bunch of those in a humidor would be pointless as the humidity regulation would have no effect either way, anything benefiting from the environment of a humidor is logically not in an airtight container and you will therefore get cross contamination. I keep my bulk snuffs in airtight screw top cannisters, which has worked perfectly for me for years.

I use smaller wood boxes holding similar style snuffs in each. Wood cigar boxes are good too. You definitely need to keep your menthol snuffs separated. Humidity may encourage scent transfer. In my opinion snuff should be hydrated/re-hydrated individually to preference. Humidors are perfect for keeping tins in and do not necessarily need to have a high humidity. Very classy! But they are a bit large and cumbersome. I look for small wood boxes that have a hinge and a lip. I hope my next find will fit my collection of small F&T tins. International marketplaces, garage sales, and the salvation army are some of my favorite hunting grounds. Cheers!
