Ok, so I was just telling this to a co worker of mine (and the only person outside of the internet I know who uses snuff) and he looked at me like I’m crazy. I told him that I like to rotate snuffs throughout the day. I use something with a good burn and heavy nicotine to wake up with (currently Garret Scotch Plain), I have an “all day” for general use throughout the day I go back and forth between toasts and SPs), I have a stack of “dessert snuffs” (not always sweet or fruity, just something different) to break the monotony of the “all day”, one for nighttime before going to bed, and one set aside for special occasions. Am I nuts? Do any of you rotate throughout the day too? It felt normal to me, but now I’m wondering. Thanks for any feedback!
One brief glance at the “What’s in Your Nose” thread will put that notion to rest. Most of the snuffers I know like to have some variety during the day, the seasons and various moods…to say nothing about the beverages at hand.
I bought hundreds of snuffs, I like the variety and employ rotation so I enjoy my favorites even more when they come into play. I have my daily “work” snuffs for nicotine content and my Pleasure snuffs for just that. I also enjoy pipe smoking and oral tobacco. I would be crazy if I put them down and picked up smoking cigarettes to get my vitamin N.
Rotation keeps away boredom. The more the merrier. I have found a couple that I will use more during the day then the others but even then it is nice to grab a floral every no and then instead of the go to snuffs.
Just today I have in my pockets or on my desk at work the following… Bernard - Zwiefacher Bernard - Brasil Bernard - Magic Moments Viking - Thor’s Hammer Square W.E. Garrett & Sons Wilson of Sharrow - Coffee Cream I think you are just fine… Or… We are all just as crazy as you are. 8-}
got about 40 in a draw in my workbench and more than that at home, and yes, I’m crazy.
My co-workers always laugh at my office because it looks like a tobacco shop in here. I have 4 pipes on a pipe rack and jars of tobacco on a shelf as well as snuff and any other odds and ends I can dream up. I rarely have to haul stuff back and forth from home because I usually have a supply here in my office, in the car and then at home of course.
Sounds very normal to me… that’s not saying much tho! I’m a little OCD at best…
Ok, so either I’m not crazy at all, or I am completely insane but in very good company. Good then. Thanks guys! Oh, speaking of such, while I have you all here… Remember I mentioned special occasion snuff? I’m getting married May 3rd and have been trying to choose a “very special occasion” snuff. And… Go!
either Roslein or Dragun!, depending, :->
Abraxas Cafe 11 comes to mind if you like caffeine & nicotine. “Breaking Bad” products made me go all night long ; but I don’t suggest you perform like a porn star on your wedding night,25th anniversary maybe. Congrats I wish the best <:-P
If there are snuffs that your fiancee finds most agreeable on your breath after you’ve used a lot of it, go for something in that genre. What @Mouse suggested seem like good candidates.
Rotating different snuffs ?? That’s beyond crazy, like those insane people listening to different genres of music depending on their mood, or even eating different kinds of food throughout the day. I once ate chinese food on the same day I ate a burger, but I guess we were all young and wild once. :))
I tend to use a primary snuff for “all day” use which tends to be a plain or KB style, and carry maybe one or two “occasional” snuffs. I used to carry more, but I rattled too much and my snuffs dried out before I’d used it up
This is why Patrick Collins makes a double box that carries two different types of snuff. And those two are just basic every day snuffs. One has other boxes for treats and variety.
@Hitsuzen, for your wedding, I’d suggest Fields of Juniper, it has a sophistication that would go nicely with a formal event. All the better if your lady has a weakness for gin.
@Michael If I could “like” a comment twice, I would. @JakartaBoy Fields Of Juniper is one I really wish I could try. Unfortunately, I am the one with the weakness for gin… two years sober last January @Mouse Dragun sounds very very interesting. @basement_shaman Abraxas Cafe 11 is on my bucket list. Sounds like it’s much tastier than the last coffee snuff I tried, which was absolutely horrid. I’m actually leaning toward some Thrice Brewed, being increasingly a fan of deep, rich naturals. Haven’t tried any rappes yet either. SG London Brown is already in my cart for my next order.
Depending on my mood I will take any of the various snuffs I have on hand as soon as I get out of bed. While my ‘usual’ is a strong menthol like Hedges of WoS, lately I have been taking some Medicated No. 66. It tends to wake me and the nose up. Throughout the day I enjoy a degree of privacy in my office suite and will rotate through an SP, 6 Photo, take a snus (Makla) and move from there. It really depends on my mood. While there is nothing wrong with stickling absolutely to one thing; be it tobacco, drink or whatever, I find variety to be one of the draws to snuff. Just as I do when it comes to the occasional pipe- while I may well have a favored tobacco/blend, I enjoy trying new blends and find them suitable for one time of day or mood over another. Nothing wrong with that.
@Hitsuzen It looks like maybe your friend is the weird one… next time you see him taking pinch after pinch of the same snuff all day you should call him crazy and tell him he needs to expand his snuff taking to at least a half dozen different kinds in a day. Then just point and laugh at him all crazy like… just to keep him guessing.
@Hitsuzen, well done! I have to abstain myself these days. But unless you really think the smell of Juniper has such strong associations that it might trigger cravings, then you should be okay. It certainly doesn’t contain alcohol!
I’m one of the oddballs, it seems. I tend to stick to one snuff all day. Maybe change up in the evenings, but even then only one or two different ones. Right now I only have 3 tins in use. Of course I have a very eclectic stash and usually change what snuffs I use daily.
“We’re All Bozos on this Bus”
I primarily use one snuff. On occasion and for variety I will switch to my alternative. Those two being: 6 Photo Special 6 Photo Kailash. Kailash used to be my favorite, now I can’t honestly say which one I like better.
Crazy like a fox! A Simpsons moment

Same here! I have enough snuff at work to avoid carting it around with me. I also have some in the car for emergencies. It’s actually quite nice to have a few varieties spread around, keeps things mixed up!
I employ rotation with my snuff, why not? Cigar and pipe smokers also rotate, it seems cigarettes smokers are the only ones that don’t
I’m all over the board…some days it’s one snuff all day; heck, some WEEKS its one stuff, all week. Other days I bounce around between different blends. It’s a mood sort of thing. Just enjoy it!
I even have different Snuffs for different TV Series, for example Celtic Talisman, Thors Hammer when I watch Vikings, or Südfrucht when I watch Black Sails because it makes me feel like a real pirate. Am I crazy ? I don’t carrrrrrr…
@Michael I snuff Viking Blonde when I watch Vikings! But yeah, I think we all do that. Especially seasonally. Lighter fruitier, more floral and citrus in the warmer months and darker and broodier for the winter. I’m a barber by trade so I keep duplicates of some of my favorites at the shop, usually heavier nicotine blends. Morning are heavy menthol or American Scotches, daytime is usually German shmaltzers in a tap box and I really like a snuff nightcap as well, usually a Toque Lavender, OM dreamcatcher, or a WoS Royal George. And many, MANY variations throughout the day:)
Go through rotations is very common when you realize the quantity of snuffs in the market, only one for all day is not enough for a spoiled snuffer like me. I rotate weekly but I always have on me one plain, one menthol and one sweet/floral so I can snuff accordingly to the situation like work, chill out,etc …
I usually buy four different snuffs and use one each day.
