I stumbled upon this Chinese online marketplace while looking around for other Madras snuffs. Bingo: N.C. Arya, Perumal Umbrella and ST Shunmugan STS Madras snuffs are there. Not sure about Sri Vijayalakshmi Tiger Brand and Sri Sastha Brand 55555, but both do look like madras, too (and are produced in Chennai as well): https://www.chinahao.com/product/520685150390/ (scroll down for pictures).

Some more “Indian snuff” search results there: https://www.chinahao.com/product/520685150390/

Frankly, I spend quite a bit of time browsing, searching and exploring… I’d love to try some stuff available there, but I am hesitating about placing an order. I didn’t hear anything about chinahao.com before. I would appreciate hearing your thoughts on this.

P. S. There are some really obscure items of doubtful genuinity and/or freshness. For instance, this fishy bottle of long-discontinued Bernard’s Pariser No.2 with that strange label, sold at ridiculous price: https://www.chinahao.com/Product/18697853398/ Or this unheard-of Bernard’s Pariser No.9: https://www.chinahao.com/Product/18121648083/

Being as familiar with the Chinese tea online morass as I am, I would not purchase from these folks EVEN IF a long time member here endorsed a single purchase. YMMV

Those prices are outrageous, 400 USD for 10g of snuff, thats more than 10 times the price of the most expensive snuff in human history. These people are insane.

@Zanaspus I appreciate your opinion, thanks! I don’t have any direct experience of trading with China-based vendors.

As far as I understand, ChinaHao operates as an intermediate between the Chinese sellers (both companies and private sellers) and the buyers (primarily, based outside of China), hence the noticeable mark-up (and all the possible delays). For comparison, prices of discontinued Dutch Windmills (Molens) snuff at ChinaHao and original Chinese webstores:
https://www.chinahao.com/Product/36846085923/

original China-based vendor: https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.1-c.w4004-5100494562.32.22d8152fREpqFk&id=36856037878

(i. e. USD 12.99 vs USD 5.00 (CNY 35.00) for a 12.5 g tap box of Molens snuff).

@n9inchnails second that. Some prices are just too crazy, up to the level where one starts doubting about the credibility of the platform itself. On the other hand, there are many vendors and range of prices is fairly wide (well, excluding that insanely USD 400 priced bottle of Bernard’s Pariser No.2). For instance, a box of 41P White Elephant for USD 29.82 might look quite tempting: https://www.chinahao.com/product/581014674502/new\\_indian\\_white\\_snuff\\_no.\\_41st\\_iron\\_barrel\\_50\\_g\\_can\\_a\\_large\\_box\\_10\\_cans , but the shipping fee (USD 27 to Europe) is kind of deal breaking.

ChinaHao search works weirdly, but quite a few results for Madras snuffs will show up there, if you do a search for “Indian snuff”. Just noticed I accidentally double-pasted the same link in my very first post of this thread, instead of dropping the link to Indian snuffs.

OK, figured it out. I’ll just use this ChinaHao thing for tracing back original China-based online snuff sellers. First search attempt returns very promissing (at least price-wise) results for Madras snuffs: https://www.tmall.com/mlist/regular\\_KROWJWEtH6BTe04N4-tfNA.html

Even found the same White Elephant seller: https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a21wu.10013406.0.0.54424689meAVW8&id=581014674502

Now to find a reliable taobao agent… I’ll leave this task for the next year.
