Hey hey everyone, So a surprising development from my lady friend. Having switched from chewing tobacco to snuff after several years, she was naturally happy with the transition. What I was not expecting was for her to ask to try some. I gave her a pinch of Old Paris, and to my surprise she loved it. Now she’s asking me to add something for her onto my next order. She is a smoker, so maybe its a good thing. I was thinking Bordeaux (she definitely likes the beautiful bottle it comes in!) , or something nicely perfumed, but was wondering if any of your gals have a snuff that they like. She was not however a fan of the Viking or any of my Schmalzers. Any recommendations? Thanks! -M
My wife liked Toque Lavender and Violet best.
Cannot speak for the ladies on here but if you are leaning toward a floral, I would recommend Toque Rose to anyone. It is a very nicely done floral.
My Gal likes White Elephant but then again she likes me. Indian Snuffs are alway a hit with the ladies, Kailash come to mind
Very good, I appreciate the tips everyone!
My wife’s favourite smelling one is F&T’s French Carotte
if she is an old hippie you can’t go wrong with F&T Patchouli :-/
I’d be surprised if women’s taste in snuffs doesn’t parallel mens’. I find in the pipe world that many women enjoy complex blends like latakia, VaPers, Balkans, English and Virginias. So with the vast array of snuff flavors/smells/concoctions they will find some of these to their taste just like the men.
Matter gets it. I like scotches, plain toasts and SPs best. Hate florals and most fruity snuffs. I tend to dip into my flavored snuffs (mostly Old Mill and some odd Toques like Peanut Butter) the least. When I smoke a pipe, I like Frog Mortons. I favor plain full bodied cigars when I smoke though. No flavors. I’ll stick the cigar butts in my pipe and smoke em before I’ll get into cpmcdill’s elegant pipe tobacco stash. I just like the smell and taste of tobacco. Women are individuals just like men. We all have different tastes.
The volcano lady always liked Dholakia White, but it’s not really very ladylike. Perhaps try Fields of Juniper?
@RainDog: According to the historical recipe book the Bon Bon we have revived is specialy for ladies. Jaap Bes.
The fems. may like Kendal GH M4X.
I have noticed that women often get steered by tobacconists to “lady cigars” ie flavored minis and petite coronas, as well as goopy aromatic pipe blends. I think when it comes to snuffs, it’s best not to underestimate the feminine appreciation of bold tobacco flavor, nicotine content, and “masculine” notes like leather, barnyard, and muskiness. Whereas women might want to wear certain perfumes, it is because those perfumes are meant to be attractive to men, and not because they happen to personally like the smell. Snuffs don’t have a “room note” so the motive for favoring the fragrance of a snuff may differ greatly from choosing a perfume. A woman might like a more “masculine” snuff because of the associations it evokes, much as men might like a perfumed snuff, as it might call up memories of past loves, or (no judgement implied) Oedipal associations. There are hundreds of scent profiles, and there are hundreds of motives for choosing what resonates most for us. If your lady friend responded so positively to Old Paris, get her a big tin of that. I wouldn’t push florals unless there’s already been a positive response to that genre. Personally, I think Old Paris is a masculine snuff, with hints of leather and musk. Maybe less bold than Viking, but “just right.” If you want to encourage a passion for snuff, start her with what you know she already likes.
Fully agree with @cpmcdill. The keyword here is not “lady” but “likes Old Paris”, “does not like Viking or Schmalzlers”. Sex is not important, she needs the common trial and error we all go through
my girlfriend is a particular fan of Poschl Gletscher Prise and GH Cherry. she likes the aroma of Abraxas Cafe11 and chocolate snuffs, until they are in the nose, most notably BOHICA (though not surprising >:) ). hates perfume scents, lighter than black plains and ammonia heavy ones. Indian scented (black ones) are usually a hit, whites not so much.
@SkeG Come now, sex will ALWAYS be important =))
Mr snuff sell She https://mrsnuff.com/she-c-118\\_53.html haven’t tried it so I don’t know? It is a dholakia product and the base tobacco is easy to use. temptation ,blast, wow and q snuff have this base. Just have her choose some .
I again asked my beautiful bride of thirty years what her thoughts were. I don’t know why. Her response remains the same. Wilsons of Sharrow Raspberry. She’s a bit dedicated, I reckon. I do wish she’d at least consider an Old Mill in there somewhere. I’m not willing to take the risk of attempting any persuasion techniques. She’s a keeper, so I don’t care what she sniffs. Damnit.
Some of the Old Mill snuffs are very pleasant, Moulin Rouge and Spotted Dick come to mind. And also Rosinski Sans souci.
Sans Souci is becoming my new eye opener. Like a vodka free screwdriver with a nice nicotine delivery. WoS Raspberry. I’d rather a .45 suppository than a hit of that creepy creature. Is it a fruit? A medicated? An abomination and waste of good tobacco? YMMV. Just don’t tell my wife.

Daniel, If you must have a .45 suppository, take it out of the gun. -Matt
@chefdaniel my wife thinks all snuff stinks except yours, she says your snuffs are the only ones she might would even consider maybe trying. Not a tobacco fan, but she doesn’t care that I use it. It’s high praise from her because she despises the scent of tobacco. She loves Moulin Rouge and Kind of Blue

Haven’t tried that one, but I wonder, could it be worse than FUBAR Mango? That one sets a high bar for me when I ponder fruity horrors.
According to a 1970s J&H Wilson’s booklet in my possession Jockey Club Perfume tops Otto de Rose and Wallflower as the ladies’ favourite snuff (oh dear!). How Westbrook Mill came to that conclusion and on what statistical evidence is speculative, but that’s what they claim. And to justify it the boxes did not come in the usual blue colour, but hideous shades of pink, yellow and purple. These days that claim might well be construed as sexism, based on the (possibly) erroneous belief that the fairer sex prefer perfumes and the gaudy coloured boxes eschewed by their masculine counterparts. Having said that, missy number two on my marriage list was a keen snuff taker. She was fond of the Sharrow scented range, Wallflower in particular – something I personally found cheap and nasty although I’m sure others here beg to differ. However, based on a statistical sample of just one woman - not very convincing - the claim by J&H Wilsons is borne out. And she didn’t like coarse snuff on account of the texture.
Different PEOPLE will like different scents, different grinds, different base tobacco, irrespective of if they have an “inny” or an “outy”. If you get the “get something for me” without any kind of guidance, I’d suggest one of the Wilsons assorted gift packs, or one of Toque’s assortment deals and work from there

@PhilipS - I fear that this might be a little fanciful on the part of J.H. Wilson’s publicity team. Jockey Clubs origins are considerably older than this. Jockey Club was originally a eau du cologne inspired by the 1750-1830’s gentleman’s organisations of the same name, hence the floral tone which was supposed to reminiscent of the ‘fresh air’ of the races, and effective at masking the less desirable scents of such occasions. Caswell-Massey are an American personal care product company and apothecary shop founded in 1752 in Newport, Rhode Island, by a Scotland-born doctor named William Hunter. They are one of the oldest continuously operating American retail companies and the oldest soap and toiletries making company in the United States, as well as the fourth oldest perfumery. A fragrance called Jockey Club was introduced in 1840. This fragrance later is said to have been a favourite of President John F. Kennedy - It remains currently available today. As far as I’m aware, this eau du cologne was where Wilson go their inspiration for the snuff of the same name, hence it’s floral and ‘perfumery’ type scent.
@RainDog All the previous members here have it right “on the nose”. Snuff scent preferences are to each individual rather than what a “lady” would prefer. I love Indian snuffs generally, but cannot abide “She”, and I am probably one of the very few that do not like Old Paris. I love 6 Photo snuffs and F&T Patchouli, but I also like many other snuffs. Why dont you present her with a few samples of the ones you have already and snuff together? It is fun to have a sampling session together frequently. That way she gets to try lots of different snuffs to find out what she likes?
Today i have offered to my youngest sister a pinch of F&T Santo Domingo and she saind thats a grand stuff and asked me to bring some more samples during my next visit. We talked about snuff from my humble collection and she is interested in Macouba, French Carotte and suprisingly in Kendal Brown (al of them F&T). Jack
Elsewhere comments abound on women’s dislike for Latakia pipe tobacco especially, and cpmcdill povides an especially keen observation; “Snuffs don’t have a “room note” so the motive for favoring the fragrance of a snuff may differ greatly from choosing a perfume.” My thought that women favour one type of snuff over another thus seems mistaken.
Similarly some of snuff’s historians attribute the 18th C female preference for snuff over smoke to be the former protecting their hair and clothing from pervasive stink - even more than cpmcdill’s “room note.” Coonsidering how much effort went into a Georgian lady’s coiffure and costume, one can understand their overall relutance to smell like an ashtray!
My ex-wife loved F&T French Carotte; my sister loves SG Black Rappee. Both ends of the snuff spectrum there hey!
My sister volunteered to try my snuff when I visited her this past weekend. I wish I was filming it, because you would have thought she took a sniff of glass shards. But through the tears, she said she liked it. That was 6 Photo Kailash. My girlfriend is not into the snuff and won’t try it, but she likes the smell of Toque Coke more than any others.
Here is provisional results from testing snuff on my youngest sister and other female members of mine family. She liked F&T French Carotte and F&T Santo Domingo. Even WoS Jockey Club has recieved positive response, marked as good stuff, but not dailybread. Also she told me about “mysterious” loss of my SG Kendal Brown Original few years ago, she with hers twin brother pinch it from my dravers and snuff it time to time. My Ma quite liked F&T Macouba. As it looks F&T Snuff range is quite woman friendly due it pretty high level of perfume.
As it looks from this discussion winner is F&T French Carotte so far.
Jack
My girlfriend finally broke down and tried some snuff. She wanted me to tell you people that she likes Dholakia Swiss Chocolate. She sneezed like eight times - it was cute.
Wife actually tried some Gawith apricot last night. She liked it. Enjoyed the light nose tingle she said.
My wife took one of my dK Gingerbreads as her own…keeps it at her bedside and even takes it with her sometimes. She’s tried every one that I’ve tried and landed on SD Cinnamon at first but quickly discarded for and loves dK Gingerbread. Something about spices for her apparently.
:x
Jaap Bes
she liked old paris well then go from there.
My wife and I placed our first order of snuff a few days ago. We got 20 different kinds to try. I’ll share the one she likes best after we get the delivery. We hope to have a good snuff session together.
Kirby, do please report back!
Well, our first Snuff session together went great. For the lady, she really liked the Bernard Fichtennadel ;) so far. We still have a few to get through and another MrSnuff shipment coming soon. She even took the Bernard Fichtennadel snuff in a bullet to use while out.
All of the ladies who have made inquiries of me soon lost interest when they discovered that it also has to come out again.
Any comment on that from the ladies?
@kirby, she’s got a good nose lol, I’ve only recently started and by far my favorites so far are by Bernard
My Mother is an occasional snuffer, she likes heavily mentholated snuffs, especially those made by P
Don’t forget how the tin looks, pity they don’t make pink snuff bullets. Hmm, maybe there’s a market here…
What the ladies need are some Chinese snuff bottles.
I’ve got a real nice one made of carved bone (might be a code word for old ivory).
Got some nice silver ones from Tibet too!
The glass bottles are not as durable.
Do a search on e-bay for “snuff bottle”.

@Dctjr80 Thanks We got another shipment and she’s got her nose deep in the RED BULL Strong Snuff. I’m bumpin that one too and a few others from that brand but she is hooked on RB ior now. @howdydave what do you mean by, “…when they discovered that it also has to come out again.” Thanks all for supporting noob snuffers
