Back in June, I did an episode on Pipesmagazine.com on their “Pipes Magazine Radio Show.” Someone suggested that I post the link here on Snuffhouse. The show is hosted by Brian Levine, who is a well known tobacco expert, who was trained by and worked alongside, Peter Stokkebye himself. He has now done over 100 episodes. And each episode, according to Brian, gets over 10,000 listeners, amazingly enough. Anyway, Brian asked me to talk about some of my views on pipes and also asked me to talk about snuff, which had not been previously discussed on the show. I made some errors regarding snuff in my talking about it, and it could have been much better. But I did what I could to let all those pipe smokers know about the wonders of snuff. And I also mentioned Snuffhouse. If you are so inclined, you can find the link to the show here. Go to the page below and click on the link that reads: “Click here to play the show.” http://pipesmagazine.com/blog/radio-talk-show/the-pipes-magazine-radio-show-episode-92/ If you don’t care about pipes, you can skip that section which takes up a little more than the first half hour. The snuff discussion itself starts at around 32:50 minutes into the conversation. Please understand that the discussion was aimed toward pipe smokers who are unfamiliar with snuff. So be warned, you may be quite bored by this discussion and find it quite simple and fundamental. You are unlikely to learn anything. Like I said, I could have done much better and I made some errors, and I would do it differently if I had the chance, but it was fun so what the hell.
I have the episode downloaded into my podcast app as I heard you did a great job. I’ll listen to it soon.
Dr. H hits another one out of the park. Nicely done Fred.
@Roderick, @chefdaniel, @lunecat, and @gravel: Thank you for the kind words. Deeply appreciated. I think that snuffing is a hobby perfectly suited for pipe smokers. I have heard many cigar smokers say that they like pipes but don’t like hassling with all the accoutrements, bowl filling process, and the pipes themselves. So many say that it is just easier to smoke a cigar. And I think they do have a point. Well, as we all know, snuff is easier to engage in, by far, than even a cigar–and for obvious reasons. So it seems to me that a pipe smoker, through discovering snuff, can engage in the enjoyment of his beloved tobac and nic with a great amount of relative ease and effortlessness, when that is appropriate. I would very much like to see snuff catch on with pipe smokers sometime in the future. And I think it just might if enough of us spread the word and pass the tin or snuff box to our pipe-loving friends. But only time will tell, of course. FWIW
@fredh, agree. As a former heavy pipe smoker, I can attest to the liberation from paraphernalia that comes with snuff. I practically had to carry a bag with me wherever I went. Snuff? A container and a spoon, and I’m ready to go. My willingness to leave the house has increased dramatically.
