I live in Essex, south-east England, and have always thought that snuff-taking was a rather solitary pastime. However, with smoking on the decline here and snuff-taking on the increase, I would have thought like-minded people would establish social groups or clubs, very much like the Campaign for Real Ale has done. Does anyone belong to a snuff club (of course excluding internet groups like this one)? Does anyone know of any in England. I feel a bit isolated here sometimes!
The problem is that whilst our numbers are growing we are very scattered. I have no doubt that clubs will spring up but not heard of any yet. In actual fact the nearest member to you is probably me in Hornchurch. Lazarus and Toffeenose live South of the river I think. Can’t think of any other South-East members…
Well, there was 4 or 5 of us enjoying snuff in the St Johns in Hull this evening. Sometimes there are twice as many. I do think you southerners need to get together with your snuff as well 
Maybe it’s different for us in the north - snuff never really went away.
You are right, of course. I grew up in Lancashire and remember it being on sale everywhere for the miners, certainly far more of a surviving snuff culture oop North. What nights do you meet up? I might try to pop in when I next visit parents. Were there ‘converts’ in that group tonight due to you meeting there?
I should add that it’s not only up north. My elder daughter and her family live in Redruth, Cornwall, and snuff is available in many of the small tobacconists and newsagents there, no doubt because of the Cornish mining industry. Wednesday night is the main night for bringing in a selection for sampling, but snuff gets sampled on other nights as well, like last night. Snuff Head had some Wilson’s Camphor & Mild with him from his new bulk buy - that was very tasty. The communal box is always on the bar of course and I wouldn’t be without 4 or 5 different ones. I’m not sure we’re really aiming to make converts but if it happens then all good.
Ermtony and Snuff Head live in snuff heaven. You guys are very fortunate to live near enough to each other, and find each other through this forum. In fact, England even being as uncommon as it is, is still much more snuff friendly and aware than America. Of course the better pub atmosphere helps that, I suppose. Here is snuff wasteland. The closest members to me I think are Snuffy (about 10 miles away) and lxskllr (about 20 miles). Both in different states. They’re both welcome to drop down here for a pint and a snuff though. We could start an ISTA chapter or subchapter. All of you are welcome to visit too, of course! Other than getting my wife to try, I’ve never seen anyone else take snuff in person. Wife has lost interest though. I am doing it more and more in public (not that I’m in public all that much) but no one has asked me about it, or apparantly even noticed me do it yet. I still have hope that it will break into the mainstream though.
Ermtony, I’m not a southerner really, I have lived most of my life in Liverpool, and my family comes from the Shetland Islands. I’m a duck out of water down here. Still, i’m convinced that if snuff becomes a common sight in pubs across the land, Mr. Darling will find something else to slap duty on…

Although I don’t contribute a lot to the forum, I do read it a lot and am also south of the river - indeed, Lazarus is my son in law. I would always be up for a little meet, if something were arranged.
I’m from south east London and I wouldn’t mind meeting up with other snuff users. I have met no one else who uses snuff, in fact they just think I’m a bit strange 
Well my state is only about 100 miles at its biggest dimension :-/ We’re twice the size of Luxembourg though!
Why not try to get a London meet together, as a one-off? I could try to coordinate it if there is interest - maybe a pub meet on an evening or afternoon that suits us all, in an accessible location? If at least a couple of people respond positively, I will start a new thread, collect emails to arrange date/place, and carry on from there.
