Do you ever chase one snuff with another? Sometimes I do this to kind of test to see if certain snuffs may go well together before I do an actual mix and settle.
Yes, all the time, pinch of this, pinch of that. Primary aim is get the nicotine in
Yes indeed Carol! Got the idea from another post somewhere. Same as iceman in going for the nic hit. Preferred snuff followed by some Toque Quit. Doesn’t seem to affect the desired scent.
I always use scented snuff after another, black after another and so on. Found out that works best for me. I use medicated snuffs to break it even.
I start with Navy plain to warm up my nose and follow with either WE Garrett, Rooster or Three Thistles (the real stuff)
I haven’t 'chased" but I have pinched different snuffs in each nostril. Weird experience. Confusing, really. mixing them is better.
Gave me a laugh wickedkitchen. I refuse to try that for the potential problems! Chasing is good when the last one’s starts to turn ie: Pari; after a few minutes clean it up with F&T HDT. Another I tried recently was Poschl Sudfrucht chased by SG Black Rapee, gave the Poschl substance, heck this SG Black just gives anything substance.
@wicked Agree with a different snuff in each nostril as confusing to the brain. But as Carol mentions in the OP, chasing works well as a test or simply cocktails on the run (-;
As of late, I have gone off of mixing. Maybe I am becoming a purist.
I just realized that the “artillery for the day” also falls within chaser. Today I brought Medicated 99 and Bayern Prise. They went after each other nicely.
Sometimes after a light blow when my nose is still wet; I will take a scotch or something fine to coat and dry up my nose. Most of the time using this technique the “chaser” won’t cause any further run and the fine dry is much easier to snuff then.
When I feel like I should stop snuffing for awhile, I chase whatever (usually a Scotch, Toast or SP) with something heavy and lingering. Tonight I used Wilson’s Brunswick, and the scent still lingers 1/2 hour later. A couple of pinches of Dholakia Kamal, and I can’t smell anything else for almost an hour.
I’ve been following huge pinches of Taxi with good-size pinches of Sun Pari or 5 Photo Raja #5, and some Rooster or Superior on top of that. Good times.
Old string refreshed a bit.
I figured out chasing on my own, on accident. I didn’t snuff enough for the nic hit I wanted, but when I went back to immediately some more I switched snuffs because I wanted a different scent/flavor in there. I followed the too-small dose of Garrett’s Sweet with some Viking Dark. It was pretty nice. Got the nic I wanted, and had that lingering Viking Dark scent.
Then I stumbled across some strings here on the forum about chasing one snuff with another, and didn’t feel so creative after all. :-)
How many of you occasionally chase one snuff with another almost immediately, and do any of you have favorite combinations you come back to time and again?
Mark
I called it chain snuffing rotating through my horde. I do it occasionally now. I been neglecting my stash and settled with the stapes.I incorporate a snuff when I see something I loved and the mood hits.I also read it called ping ponging. And that has variations. One snuff right a different on the left. Mixing can give various results depending on ratio. But chasing is also layering depending on the relative humidity can produce amazing results.The main object is to enjoy the experience. If you need more nic just increase frequency if fine dry snuffs are not on your menu. I enjoy the Indian white straight and mixed; Of course they make an excellent chaser when you need that extra bump. B-)
