I recieved my wooden flip top box today, and as snuffster requested, I’ll do a little review here. First of all the wood, and finish are absolutely beautiful! The 4 leaf clover inlay(I’m asuming it’s silver) adds a really classy touch, and fits right in with me being a Mick and all! The lid closes tight as a virgin’s hoohoo, and if I hadn’t read PeterS’s post I probably would have broken it. I did the paper test on it, and a very negligable amount of snuff came out. When I say negligable, I mean just a VERY fine dusting. It was filled with Dholakia, which is a very fine grind anyway, so it sems to be sufficiently airtight. This box is the perfest size, and holds just the right amount of snuff to get you through the day, even if you’re a heavy user. All in all, I give this box 5 out of five stars, and would like to thank @snuffster and @ermtony for providing the links that made it possinble for me to FINALLY own one of these gems!! Congratulations, in my view these are the best of the easily available snuff boxes. Don’t worry about the slight leakage, it’s very common and doesn’t cause you any undue problems, both of mine do the same. As folks can see, these are not antiques although often sold as such on ebay. As I understand it, the elderly gent who made these is no longer with us, so these are new but are old stock. Anyone wanting an unused one would be wise to get one now before the limited stock dries up forever. If only PC would consider making something like these, I like the slide tops but this form is much better.

I did score…I absolutely love this box!! I can’t thank Snuffster and ermtony enough!! I’ve been searching the net, and frantically searching the web, and bidding on ebay, only to be outbid every single time. Within 2 weeks of recieving those links, I had this beauty in my hand. That right there makes ya wanna keep coming back to Snuffhouse…the incredible helpfulness of the members around here!! Spcial thanks to snuffster for making us aware that these are not, in fact antiques, that atopped my bidding with a quickness!! @snuffster I agree totally with these being better than the slide top boxes! Maybe somebody will revive this design someday…somebody that’s crafty and and excellent craftsman…ahem @ddavelarsen ! lol!!

Hey n9…snuffster recommended em first!!! =) But they are seriously nice boxes, I’ve been carrying mine with me since i got it, and haven’t had a single problem yet…and don’t foresee any…they are built quite sturdy, and really tight seal! Hope you enjoy yours as much as I have mine!!
I’m not going to be able to order one, I’ve blown my wad and my goodwill at home all to hell. And Fischy, I’m not skilled with woodworking, so we’re going to have to rely on someone else to revive these sweet boxes. Maybe someone with an ‘in’ will convince PC to give them a run… Someday I’ll be able to order stuff again and I’d sure look forward to owning a nice box like that!

Bah! It is so similar to the one I bought from an antique store on ebay, except the ends on mine are capped with metal. I’m tempted to buy one, so tempted. They are lovely.
